1972 Mercedes 280 SEL 4.5 LWB Collector Car Rare combination Black/Wine Red Leather Interior and Rare Factory Electric Sunroof….never seen one like this in the US. Very low reserve…appreciate your interest. Proud to offer for sale this 2 owner US version of 280 SEL with a 4.5 engine 99890 miles with a clean VA title on-hand and always garaged. The car recently went through a moderate cosmetic interior and exterior restoration. This does interest a lot of people as a beautiful black beauty in a time capsule from the German 70s era…it does comes with the original Factory Data Card as and stands out as all original along with the confirm built data codes. All Fluids checked and changed when necessary. http://s896.photobucket.com/albums/ac170/ronvar/280SEL/ Engine/Brakes: Starts rights up after being idle for weeks, when parked no leaks however recently noticed one or two drops when the car is in motion from the power steering box. No engine, transmission or differential leaks. The previous owner was a medical doctor and had the car for the majority of the car life. Brakes are fine now …however I did buy brand new set of zinc slotted rotors and premium pads for all 4 wheels and it does come with the sale (Cost $500). The hood does have a OEM insulator. Transmission: Column shift transmission. Smooth, serviced and with no hesitation in shifting. There is no leaks. Under Chassis: Clean and dry with no oil leaks. Paint: The paint is original DB040 " black" … new paint. No surface rust /dents or bubble on the paint. A lot of work was put into the preparation, and finishing. The original lacquer paint was stripped and sanded down and triple coat was applied. It looks like the car was never painted before when the original factory lacquer paint was stripped. (Cost approx. $4000) Suspension System: No issues. Replace rear struts/shocks/coils springs OEM Parts/Bilsteen less than 100 miles ago (Cost $ 400) Leather: All original as it came from factory per code. Color is wine red. Since this car was owned by a Doctor, the rear seats looks and feels as if nobody has sat on them….spectacular for a car 38 years old. The car has new floor mats in the burgundy professionally special ordered from California. Steering and dash has a small crack. Door Panels: All door panels are good. Doors vacuum lock do work. Tires: 4 NEW white wall tires installed - Firestone FR380 205/70/14… Glass: All glass are excellent with no cracks/scratches. All windows do operate. Rear Hat Shelf: Original with Becker speakers. Wood: The woodwork is excellent. Restored. Air Condition/Heat: AC might need a charge. Heat works as well as the blower. The heater levers also works. Chrome: All interior/exterior chrome are beautiful with a shine to it. There is some fade to the right front bumper rider and a small ding on the front right bumper. As shown in the pictures, there are some dings in the rear bumper but the bumper rubber is straight and good. Trunk: Clean with carpet mat (no rubber mat), tools, spare tire. Electrical: All electric work on the car including vacuum locks, power windows switches, wipers, horn, interior/dash/exterior lights including the trunk light. Even the original Hirschman antenna (non-electric) works. Electric sunroof: Works fine as it supposed too. Documentation: The car comes with a fair amount of maintenance and parts receipts, manuals, original data card, Becker Europa factory manual, etc.. A $1000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right to keep the deposit and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his/her cost.
