1971 CHEVROLET PICKUP * MILD CUSTOM * EXCELLENT NUMBER ONE ALL AROUND TRUCK!! HISTORY OF CHEVROLET TRUCKS The first Chevrolet trucks were produced in 1918. They were nothing more than beefed-up cars, and they looked it. The start up production was a mere 890 units consisting of 1/2 ton and 1 ton. Chevrolet needed only ten more years to sell its first half million trucks. By 1939, Chevrolet offered 45 models on eight wheel bases, the cumulative output was an amazing two million units. Walk ahead to the present day, 93 years and counting................Chevy trucks are the favorite, the BOW TIE is # 1. Collectors consider the '67 - '72 run to be the best looking and most desirable of all, and the last 2 years, '71 and '72 to be the best because of their sporty grills. These trucks are extremely popular now because they were so popular then. The 1971, like the one offered here, has crisp, clean, classy lines. The trucks appeal is much more than beauty and sheet metal. The whole truck was moved down, a modification that enhanced it's long low lines. The lower stance also dropped its center of gravity - giving it added ride and handling characteristics. In 1971 Chevrolet truck ads stated: “CHEVROLET TRUCKS ARE BUILT FOR HARD WORK, CERTAINLY; BUT, BEYOND THAT YOU WILL FIND MORE COMFORT,STYLE AND CONVENIENCE THEN EVER BEFORE. WE'LL GO AS FAR TO SAY THAT IT LOOKS AS GOOD AND RIDES AS SMOOTH AS MANY CARS.” THIS 1971 CHEVROLET TRUCK I will take you on a journey of a one of a kind 1971 Chevrolet pickup. It is a number one all around truck. I will show you the entire truck, offer my opinions and evaluations. This is a wonderful story of vision and accomplishment. It is not just another Chevy truck. You just do not find them like this. It is a beautifully built mild custom, completely different, lighting fast, and unlike too many completely finished in every way. It flirts with fantastic. It's ride is as fresh and new as a modern day truck. Its all began in sunny Florida on May 6, 1971. From then to now, it was transformed into a one of one. Prohibited money was spent along the way simply because the owner loved his truck and needed to create something no one else had. The transformation began in 1996 with the installation of a re-manufactured Pontiac 406 ci engine and 350 Olds transmission, skilfully fitted and tested. It fits perfectly, its gleaming "Pontiac blue" showing top and bottom side. The engine is + .30. The transmission was updated and completely bench built at a cost of $495.00 before installation. The entire truck was re-done. Every attention was paid to detail, nothing was skipped over or left undone thinking no one will notice. The sure sign of a master protectionist. Before moving on, just one example......the interior ashtray bumpers were replaced. I will not continue, however I will include all receipts which total $12,106.75 to the penny and are all housed in a binder protected by plastic inserts. Everything goes with the truck. The new owner will also receive the original new truck documents which include: THE ORIGINAL INVOICE FROM COX CHEVROLET, BRADENTON, FLORIDA. THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL WITH ALL SERVICE RECORDS HAND WRITTEN IN DETAIL ON EVERY AVAILABLE SPACE COVERING EVERY AVAILABLE SPACE.....A GREAT 'LET ME BRAG ABOUT MY TRUCK AT YOUR FAVORITE PIT STOP' THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL COVER THE ORIGINAL NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY AND PROTECT-O-PLATE ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE ENCLOSED IN THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC COVER A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FLORIDA TITLE ISSUED MAY 6, 1971 Allow me to detail the whole truck. The exterior seems the logical place to begin. However, I would like to show you the underside first, even though it is anything but pretty. It simply is one of this most important parts of any vehicle. There is zero rust. It remains untouched. The floors and frame are in near new condition. You will not even find any scale. All of it is completely dry and original. There is no evidence of repair. The only changes are new shocks and an almost new dual exhaust. THE 12 BOLT REAR END IS DRY AND ORIGINAL. The body is clean, solid and straight as an arrow. Beautiful to look at with its Tiger Gold paint. It is deep and very shiny. It lends itself to this 'one only' truck. All of the panels fit and line up perfectly. The optional factory installed rear bumper is in very good condition. The bed was too nice to cover up. Herculiner was installed with just a slight upturn allowing material access. Please note how well maintained the bed is. The tanneau cover adds so much. It is clean with no tears and adds beauty to the Tiger Gold exterior. Testing the 'sleeper' theme find the original wheels set off by beauty rings. The White letter tires are very good. Another real test on these classic trucks happens when you open the doors. Extremely clean applies here. The doors line up with no sag, are completely solid with a beautiful finish. You just do not find them any nicer. All of the glass is in great shape with no chips or discolor. The optional rear sliding window adds good looks and function. It is in excellent condition. The exterior is beautiful to look at and just as exciting to drive. There is more power then you will ever need or imagine, yet the engine is smooth and quiet. The 406 Pontiac engine and B + M Street Stick 350 transmission light up with only a slight push on the accelerator. Looking down the sides, please notice the RAM AIR exhaust manifolds, worth their weight in gold. A lot to talk about here if you are inclined to show your truck off. You have what it takes to out run most street rods without abusing this prized Chevy pickup. The engine is .30 over with numerous up takes. The covers and block are the correct blue and show very well. The whole engine compartment is stunning to look at and will fit in nicely at any show. This is the right truck for cruising or a night out with the guys. The interior is pleasing to look at, comfortable, has a lot of class and holds its own in any situation. There are no areas that need attention. It is completely finished with attention to detail. There is an overhead console and cover. Included are eight speakers and appropriate boosters. The center console houses the tachometer and separate gauges. The dash and center console are finely finished in a warm wood color to accent the exterior. Black seats, carpets, top liner and dash pad make the exterior jump. All of the gold paint is in excellent condition,.....like new. The seats are comfortable and include a middle jump seat. The wood steering wheel makes for a first class finish. Included here are70 plus close up pictures showing this vehicle from every angle inside and out. The new owner will receive a premium truck like no other, something to be proud of; a truck you cannot shop or compare. Bid with confidence. This truck is a wonderful value.
