One of the nicest original, low mileage, first year E30 BMW's anyone will ever find. Normally, I seek out the members of my collection. I usually have a specific want or need and I start my search. The thrill of the hunt is part of the fun. This car found me. I'm a lifetime lover and 25 year collector of American cars and I have a passion for original examples. Even though this BMW is outside my typical window of interest, I owned many of them in the 1990's and appreciated their quality and drivability. 20 years ago none of them held a candle to this car. It's authenticity, condition and documentation more than fuel my passion for mint Survivors. One owner. Purchased new here in Portland Oregon at Roth BMW. Roth became Rasmussen BMW about the time this car sold new, thus the original Rasmussen license plate frames that are still on the car today. I have the original $19,365 window sticker, all books, all manuals, the 318i brochure and even the BMW cassette tape cleaner. I also have the original, only one ever issued, Oregon certificate of title. This car was ordered loaded with options not often found on the 318 model. Alpine white with pearl leather interior, air-conditioning, power windows, power door locks, cruise control and sunroof. She has traveled a total of 59,356 miles since 1984. Garaged and never damaged or smoked in. The interior, exterior and mechanical condition are outstanding. I have logged nearly 200 miles on the car this summer. It is like driving a near new BMW. I'm a lifetime enthusiast and as such I'm in tune with how a car performs, sounds and feels. This is an amazing car. Sometimes saying less is more and If I didn't type another word you'd still be able to form a correct impression after the first few photos. For those that prefer details, here they are: The car wears it's original, factory applied Alpine white paint. A high shine is still on all surfaces. A bold statement for white paint! The body is excellent. Every panel is perfectly straight. No collision damage has ever occured. There are no dents or dings. The upper portion of the drivers door was scratched in a parking lot by a jealous passer by when the car was near new and the top half of the door was painted. Only visible on very close inspection or when I point it out. All rubber moldings, aluminum trim, emblems and even the tail lights looks almost new. All glass is day-one original BMW and in gorgeous, crystal clear condition. With the exception of tiny rock chips from the very limited driving this car has done, the paint is beautiful. This cars condition is obvious at a glance and even more apparent the longer you look. They are never found like this any more. Just a spectacular car. The interior needs no explanation. It is excellent. Seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, and dashboard are all stunning. Little to no wear showing. Almost a time capsule. The leather is still glove soft. The original BMW floor mats have always protected the carpet. Every switch, knob, lever and button functions properly. All lights, gauges, heater/AC, wipers, power windows, power mirrors, cruise control, radio, horn, etc, work correctly. Photos will tell the rest. The interior is as close to perfection as anyone will ever find. Mechanically in tip-top condition. I'm not a penny pincher and I have deep respect for this car. I had a comprehensive service performed at one of Portlands premier BMW facilities. The receipt is in my file and will be provided to the next owner. The car was completely gone over. All needed maintenance was done including valve adjustment. Brakes and clutch are operating perfectly. Factory suspension with the original Bilstein shocks and struts still rides like new. Factory exhaust system is still in place and in perfect condition as well. The engine is still as strong as it was 27 years ago and the 5 speed transmission shifts flawlessly. The typical items that normally get worn out on these E30 BMW's are still in wonderful condition on this car. It has never been abused or neglected. It really is like driving a 2 year old car. There are no squeaks, rattles, pulls, vibrations or abnormal noises of any kind. I don't know what else to say without sounding like a broken record. This car runs, drives, performs and handles beautifully. I wouldn't hesitate taking a drive of any distance, period. I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. Thanks for your time, DAVE The chrome trim that runs around the front and rear window seals is always yellow and pitted. NOT ON THIS CAR. It is perfect. The tail lights still look brand new. Even the soft felt weather seal around the sunroof appears like new. Yes, the power antenna goes up and down with the radio operation. All original BMW glass is crystal clear. When I said every light worked, I meant every light! The factory fog lamps still turn on by pushing the button. This car really is nearly perfect. The outer edge of each front fender has tiny light rock chips. Easily made invisible with the factory Alpine white touch-up paint in the glovebox but I wanted to show these minor flaws. They are the only blems worth mentioning. I magnified this photo in order to document these imperfections. They cannot be seen unless inches away in person. These are the only license plates the car has ever had. No excuses to make. The interior is outstanding. Both door panels look like new. Leather seats are still soft. The cushion on the drivers seat has lost a little support from light use but still excellent. The rear passenger area has rarely been used. Never smoked in. That is the parking brake light indicator on the dashboard. Most things look like fingers have never touched them. Current on service. Even the floor side kick panels have never had shoes touch them. Yes, accurate and original mileage reading of 59,356. Production date of February 1984. The entire dashboard is perfect. Trunk is MINT. Did we expect an incomplete tool kit? Not a chance. The original spare has never been on the ground. A nicer engine compartment would be difficult to find. The spare tire wells are always dented. NOT on my car. Undersides we pray to find. No corrosion of any kind. NEVER exposed to a salted road. Both original dealer window stickers. Original, day-one Oregon certificate of title provided. 1984 318i brochure. This little car is the exception to so many rules. Regardless of where your interests are, this car must be appreciated. These cars are extinct in this condition. One of the finest anywhere.
