Vehicle Detail

I hadn't owned a British car in a few years so when a close friend of mine stumbled across this TR-6 sitting forgotten in a garage I dropped what I was doing and went to see it. As a lifetime collector of American cars from the late 60's to the early 70's I don't often venture into unknown territory. The straight 6cyl Triumph's have always been on my exception list. I like the sound and feel of these cars. This is an extremely solid car having spent most of it's life in the dry part of Central Florida. She is rust-free. Even the undersides are very nice. Most people, even the British guys, have never seen one of these Triumph's with factory Air-conditioning. She was brought here to the Pacific Northwest several years ago and untouched until I removed her from the garage she had been hibernating in. Before attemping to start the car I had her taken to a well respected British car enthusiast here in Portland for servicing. $2800.00 later, I have been enjoying the car during sunny days. I cleaned her up and applied a fresh coat of wax and ran through 2 full tanks of premium fuel. Interior, exterior and mechanical condition are very good. Full details below: The body and paint are very nice. All original body panels have excellent alignment, fit and gaps. One repaint was performed many years ago. It appears that a good job was done at that time. The color seems to be near the factory green but maybe a shade darker than the original. The paint holds a high shine and gloss with reflections visible in all panels. My explorations of the car have discovered no abuses of bondo or other body fillers. Being garage kept and well cared for has allowed the finish to stay nice. The chrome bumpers and luggage rack show some fading but still in good shape. All glass is clear and very nice. Minor blemishes in the form of tiny paint chips can be found on close inspection (photos provided) but the car shows and presents itself extremely well. Compliments are non-stop every time I take her out and she deserves all of them. This car has a very authentic appearance that attracts everyone. Just a very pretty car. The interior is in beautiful condition. Seats, door panels, carpet and dashboard are very nice. The soft-top is also in excellent shape. The wood on the dash is slightly faded but in very good condition. There is a small flaw near the driver side window crank (photo provided) but the interior is very nice. Seats are comfortable. The Lucas wiring has held up and all Smiths gauges are fully functioning. Lights, heater, turn signals, etc, are currently working properly. The aftermarket radio and horn are in-op. The wipers work but the switch itself is bad. I'm not a penny pincher but I never intended to drive the car in the rain so fixing the wipers wasn't necessary. The original A/C system is 100% complete but will require service to be operational. The appearance and condition of the interior is impressive. I had almost $3000 worth of servicing done before driving the car. She runs well. The carburetors were gone through as needed. General tune-up and fuel system cleaning. The starter, alternator, battery and water pump were replaced. Exhaust manifold gasket was also replaced. The clutch slave cylinder is new as well. The brakes were checked and the car stops just fine. The mechanic that specializes in British cars that performed all of the above mentioned maintenance says the car is sound. I find no notable fluid leaks on my floor. Based on the cars dormancy, there is some seapage coming from the wheel bearing on the left front and a little brake fluid is visible on the backside of the right front. It was recommended to drive and enjoy the car while monitoring the things that may need further service. The 4 speed, non-overdrive transmission shifts nicely. The clutch currently feels strong but prior to having the hydraulics repaired I felt it slip pulling out of my very steep driveway. Again, it is operating smoothly at this time and this might just be too much information but replacing the clutch could be in the cars future. Suspension feels fine. I have taken a handful of drives at all speeds up to 75mph and the car drives great. It's a vintage British car that is performing well but will naturally require typical tinkering. Anyone that says differently is not being honest about their car. I drove my Triumph 30 miles today so that my description information would be fresh in my mind. I'll drive her tomorrow and the next day too! I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Triumph in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 13th of September at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my TR-6. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE The top is in excellent condition. One very small repair was done (photo below) but even on close inspection it's hard to see. I do not have a hard top. I magnified this photo to show the small repair. In person it has to be pointed out. The top is nice. Plastic glass is crystal clear. See, I told you I drive it. This was yesterday crossing the Fremont Bridge into downtown Portland. 9-7-2011 Even the lower body panels and below the rocker trim are excellent. I left the Florida license plates in-place to authenticate the cars history. You can see 2 tiny rock chips in this photo. Other tiny flaws are also shown in close-up's. The saddle color matching top boot is perfect. This small blem is just under the flag on the passenger side. Again, only visible under close scrutiny. Chip on trunk lid. Tiny chip on drivers door edge. 2 chips just above right headlight. Clearer photo below. Chip on hood edge near drivers headlight. Same as above. Very small paint blems above drivers side rear tire. All of these exterior flaws could have been made virtually invisible with the matching touch-up paint I have. I'll leave that rewarding 45 minute task to the next owner. I left them alone to better document the imperfections. The original factory wheels, center caps and trim rings are very nice. The Michelin red-line tires are many years old but still feel smooth on the road. I took this picture to remind myself to mention that the paint does hold a good shine. That's me waving in the reflection. Hello. The interior is in impressive condition. The integrity of the wood in the dashboard is nice. It is slightly faded. Flaw at drivers window crank. I only looked away from the road for a second to snap this pic at 60mph. I have no documentation to verify the odometer reading. It is assumed to be original and the mechanic that performed the servicing agrees. However, it is simply the current reading on a 37 year old car. The dash-pad is very nice. Tiny lower dash-pad flaw near passenger A/C vent. ALL gauges work. As mentioned previously. The original air-conditioning system on this car is very rare. It is 100% complete but in need of a freon charge and service. Trunk area is excellent. Even the weather strip channels are gorgeous. A/C system intact and hooked-up. I have found no evidence of previous collision damage anywhere on the car. What's left of an old bee's nest on the rear differential. The undersides are very nice. Everywhere I rubbed with a cotton rag exposed factory red primer on the original floors. No undercoating. Just typical grime. The underbelly we hope to find. Even underneath the trunk area. Now this baffles me. Please notice the small floor repair on the drivers side. I'm confused because the rest of the undersides, even right around this area, are outstanding. Full and accurate VIN number. These tags are located on the engine compartment firewall. T 18424CF 19319CF Engine block pad stampings. I also have the original owners manual. Certainly the odd duck in my collection. Still a neat car that I've been proud to own. Holds her head up high even in these surroundings. Terms of Sale: 37yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in good working order per my written description above. I have the free and clear Florida title in my possession. I drive this car without concern but she is a 37 year old vintage British sportscar and constant service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Carla has dispatched and handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info for my shipper at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
