Vehicle Detail
1973 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500, Classic convertible. A nice little daily driver with soft and hard tops. I've owned several of these gems in the past years and they are always very fun to drive. Simple cars and a mechanics dream to work on because the hood and fenders hinge forward. I acquired this model from a mature gentleman who's owned it for the past decade and used it as a secondary car. Has had some recent servicing, including a electric fuel pump, Webber Carb, Exhaust manifold, engine mounts, plugs and wire set. Engine was power washed and detailed. Starts right up and goes, brakes are good, drives well on and off freeway. **NOTE** I will be posting photos of the car with the hard top on in the next couple of days, and it will be on when you come to pick up the car. BODY: Overall an ok body with classic Triumph yellow. Looks to have had a re-paint in the past at some point. Tires are a couple of years old with good thread on them, original steel wheels have been repainted in metallic silver with newer chrome beauty rings, and original black center caps. All lights are working and chrome bumpers are in good shape with some surface scuffing. Also comes with the chrome luggage rack. INTERIOR:The interior is as you would expect for an older driven car, and needs some attention, although the top of the dash has no cracks. Door panels are intact but worn and warped. Seats do have rips on the bottom sections. Wooden dash face has the usual clear coat cracking/peeling. Original "loop style" carpet is worn and mostly intact with some loosening in places. No radio, antenna or speakers are installed. Does have the SCCA National Champion badges on the dash face. Hard top was recently painted and the headliner is in great shape however the rubbers are cracking. All glass is intact and windows roll up and down easily. FLAWS:Paint has lacquer cracking in places (see close up pic) and some minor scratches and dings; pas. side window crank is missing the knob; the underside of the top black dash does have some damage; while there is minimal rust on this 73 model, the battery tray does have a hole on the inner corner edge, also the pas side floor has a slender hole (apx. 3"x1/2"), that side was cleaned and rubber under coated. The driver floor has a couple of smaller holes and also an older panel is there covering older damage; the tray under the dash on the pas. side is missing; I have no door keys, and the ignition switch was changed to a Dodge ignition; speedometer/odometer is currently not working; so I'm selling as true miles unknown; driver's side seat track is a bit stuck, I will try to get it sliding better; spare tire has gone missing; I do have the convertible top frame that will be on the car. This car was mainly driven here in California as a "jump in and go" roadster, or with the hard top on. Soft tops for these models are relatively inexpensive at around $200-$250, and are pretty simple to install. N.A.D.A. Value guide on this vehicle is from: $4,025 - $9,150 Comes with the Torneau cover and the boot cover as well. Also come with the original jack and tools. This car does not require a SMOG CHECK in California, it is SMOG EXEMPT. Currently registered through Nov. 2011. Ok, that's pretty much it. She's a nice little car that is great on gas and doesn't take up a lot of room. People love to see her going down the road. ********** PAYMENT TERMS ARE AS FOLLOWS: ********** I accept: C.O.D if you are local, m.o., cashier's check, personal check (allow to clear). Torneau cover is intact but zipper is off track and some stretching is required when you are putting it on to snap on. Factory top is steel with glass. Side rear windows also glass, swing out. Recently painted to match car color but is a bit more yellow (see pic), also rubber weather stripping is cracked. Top does have some scuffs, scratches. headliner is intact with some stains and material coming off.
