1995 CHEVROLET CORVETTE * EXCELLENT * GLASS TOP THE ONE TO OWN! HISTORY OF CHEVROLET AND CORVETE Chevrolet Motor Company was incorporated on November 3, 1911. Once again, Chevrolet is # 1. It is the most popular name plate in the land. This is the celebration year. One hundred unbelievable years. Collectors the world over are adding to their collections. The company's namesake, Louis Joseph Chevrolet was born in LaChaux-de-Fonds Switzerland on Christmas day, 1878. He grew up in France. His family was so poor he received little formal education. He worked at a wine cellar and then taught himself to repair motor bikes and eventually became an automobile mechanic. He arrived in the United States in 1900 and began a career as a dare devil race car driver. He actually left Chevrolet less than two years after production began. He was a complete failure and worked as a line mechanic from 1934 to 1938 when his health failed. He passed away June 6, 1941. The history of Chevrolet and America's Corvette has more color than a city of neon lights. It started as little more than a pieced together prototype built by men of vision and big dreams. Wild men like William Crapo "Billy" Durant and so many others. Somehow Chevrolet survived turmoil, wars, the Great Depression to become the greatest of the great. Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet, the car we grew up with. CORVETTE: THE AMERICAN DREAM MACHINE In the early 1950's, it was only a designer's dream. Today, the Corvette stands alone as America's dream car----------testament to its unmistakable charisma and the excitement it inspires. Always.... unique styling, powerful performance and an undeniable panache have made Corvette the most celebrated sports car in the world. In 1953, Corvette produced 300 lightweight fiberglass roadsters. With a two-speed Power glide transmission, Blue Flame engine and gleaming Polo White exterior, the Corvette began its drive into the hearts of America. With over 50 years of experience and technology under its belt, Corvette just gets better. State of the art refinements are standard on all Corvettes. It is and has been a premier driving machine. The Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky produced the 1995 Corvette offered here. It is one of the most sophisticated and computerized assembly facilities in the world. To build the 1995 Corvette, over 1,200 employees teamed up with 70 high-tech robots to produce this fine machine. The World of Corvette.
