Vehicle Detail

For sale BY ITS SECOND OWNER is a great garage find, an original 1967 Hemi-powered Plymouth Belvedere II sedan. The exterior is either black and white, or very dark blue and white. This car was first delivered to "a little old lady" in Orange Virginia in 1967. It was bought by its present owner (my deaf-mute neighbor lady across the street) in 1980. She sold it to her father in 1982 when it had 73,183 miles on the clock. He drove it about 15,000 miles over the next 8 years, parked it in his garage in early 1990, then died and left it back to his daughter. The car remained in that garage from then until now. The owner has decided the time has come to move it on, and asked me to put it on the web for her and to facilitate with communications. The condition of the car is what you would expect from one that has not been started or touched in 21 years--which is both good and bad. The upholstery has a couple of age tears, the paint is badly in need of compounding and has a few chips, the engine is dirty and of unknown ability, two of the hubcaps are from a Chevrolet, the tires are crap. But near as I can tell, this car never even had a fender-bender, much less been in a wreck. The body panels are straight, though some alignment will be necessary if you want all the gaps to match, the chrome is mostly unpitted, the glass is good, there's no obvious chassis rust, everything looks to be as stock as it came from the factory except for a steering wheel cover. Nothing has been done to the car since pulling it out of the garage--no point in doing things that any restorer would probably want to do differently. For what it's worth, one professional mechanic I brought in to look at it opined that he could get it "running and on the road for under $1,000," but I doubt it would be running the way you would want to run it or look as you'd want it to look. If you are searching for a really straight, original mid-60s hemi-powered Plymouth to restore, I doubt you could find a nicer one to start out with. The car is located in Schuyler, Virginia, a town that is about 20 miles south of Charlottesville. If you wanted it shipped, you'd have to arrange for that, since I know nothing of that business. If you win the auction, a $500 deposit through PayPal will hold the car for two weeks to give you a chance to inspect. Final payment can be by any method, but the title will be transferred only when the payment clears. If you win the auction but decide to back out after, I'll keep $50 for the bother of relisting and refund the rest. If you have any questions about the history of the car, I'll be glad to relay them back and forth to the owner for you.
