Vehicle Detail
Up for sell is my 1964 Corvette Convertible with NO RESERVE. It has many new parts to include radiator, gas tank, brake calipers, steering gear box, four tires, shocks all around, front springs, tie-rod ends inner and outer, ball joints upper and lower, stabilizer bushings, A frame bushings, u-joints on the main and half shafts, idler arm, distributor, alternator, voltage regulator, canvas top, seat coverings, glove box lock and inner box, windshield and I am sure many more that I can not think to list right now. Over all it looks great from ten feet away but the paint has many small scratches and blemishes and there is a two-inch crack in the fiberglass. The paint on the hood also has some striping of the metal flake that you can see if you are looking for it. The current engine in it is from a different 1964 Corvette but I do have the number matching 327 300hp engine in pieces ready for a rebuild. This last June I took it from Las Vegas, Nevada to Highland, Illinois; a 3,000 mile round trip with out any problems. It ran 80 miles an hour with plenty of power to spare. It does leak a small amount of oil from the timing chain cover gasket I think. Most everything works on it with a few exceptions. The clock simply does not work, the amp gauge moves with amp draw but it is never centered. The horn’s contactor in the steering column broke; a few dollar part. A linkage for the parking breaks broke. A few things to note are that the headlight motors flip up and down very strong and the original radio works just fine. Speedometer works although the odometer is stuck. The tachometer, oil pressure and temperature gauge all read correctly. The windshield wipers work well although the wiper fluid reservoir is missing. The blinker, running, braking, and interior lights all work as they should. I have two boxes of parts that include the old carburetor, distributor, engine parts, alternator, and a few other parts. Another thing to mention is that the soft top needs adjustment as it is not air or watertight currently. The car starts right up and shifts through all four gears very smoothly. The transmission and rear end is original to the car. The rear bumpers could use to be replaces as they have some surface rust and four holes in them. The last time this car was on the road before I registered it was in 1976 and that owner drilled the holes in the bumper to mount a trailer hitch. I covered the holes with four chrome bolts and you can see this in the picture of the back. For a daily driver no one would notice but if you want something perfect this is another thing that will need attention. The underneath has its fear share of surface rust but everything is solid. It drives very smooth even at 80 plus miles an hour on the highway. This is a great daily driver as it sits but has the potential to be a show car with a restoration.
