Vehicle Detail

1978 Ford F150 Super Cab Ranger Pickup VIN: X15JKBK1923 Remember the bedtime story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” your Mama told you as a kid? How Jack went to town to peddle the family cow and returned with a handful of “magic beans” instead of cash? We’ve been in the wholesale car trade for the better part of two decades and over the years I’ve trained a select number of folks to go out and buy inventory for our business. Every so often we’re surprised by what Humphrey arrives back at the shop with, so you can imagine what I thought when he drove up with this nice, great running F150 Super Cab pickup. Now, I don’t want to appear negative, but what we ideally want him to buy are LATE model trade-ins for our retail auto dealer clients – vehicles they can just put out on their front line after jacking the price up 30% - and a 33-year-old Ford Pickup, no matter HOW COOL, doesn’t fit that description. Please help Humphrey save his job and give this clean, great driving F150 Ranger Extended Cab Camper Special your kind attention: Take a good look at our photos. Even with just a casual glance you’ll quickly gather that this F150 was loved and well kept by a long-term owner, probably somebody’s Granddad. For those of you not familiar with the Pacific Northwest, we get our share of misty rain, but hardly ever any snow. At the first sign of a falling flake everyone panics and stays home. School is cancelled and business grinds to a stop from “sick” workers calling in. Truth is, our winter roads are rarely salted, so you’ll find few vehicles with any real rust issues here. Please feel free to climb over, under and around this rig - I know you’ll come up smiling! When you open the hood, you’re in for another nice surprise. This truck has a clean, great-running 460 engine. The very second you fire it up; you’ll know it was built to last! The heavy duty transmission is very strong and I believe there are 3.50 gears in the rear pumpkin. The data plate specifies that it is a limited slip differential. Here’s how the VIN code and data plate breaks down: X15 – ’78 Ford F150 4x2 J - 460 Cu. In. engine w/ four Barrel carb K - Canadian Assembly Plant H2 – Limited Slip differential 3.50 Ratio HM – Tan & White paint X152 – 6200 GVW The data plate shows it was delivered to the Los Angeles 71 Sales District and had a March, ’78 build date The dash has full factory instrumentation including oil-water-amp gauges. Tilt column and factory cruise control are here. There are also dual fuel tanks and a rear window slider. The medium brown carpet’s clean and in very good condition. Look at the pics of the bench seat. Aside from some loose decorative center stitching, it is in great original condition (the rear bench looks like it’s never been sat in). A close inspection of the two-tone door panels tells me they’re also original and are in nice overall shape – no UV-induced vinyl breakdown. The factory A/C blows, but doesn’t get cold so I’m figuring it will need a Freon recharge. I tried out the CB radio, but never heard any chatter - probably nobody around here uses it anymore anyway. Outside you’ll find the original two-tone tan over white paint. As pictured, there are some spots with a little surface rust from paint scratches. I’ve debated whether to paint the truck before posting it here, but the overall patina and cool, old-school vibe this rig projects kept me from doing it! The wheels are wrapped with 235/75R15 Toyo radials with plenty of remaining tread all around. This rig is a Camper Special with all the heavier duty suspension, cooling and related options that go with it. Please feel free to email or contact me here at BEST AUTO with any questions. My name is MARK and my direct number is 206/914-1173. You’re welcome and encouraged to come by during our 10 to 6 business hours every day to drive and inspect the truck. You may also make an offer before the end of the auction, as many of our vehicles sell to local walk-ins prior to the end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period. Please Note: WE will NEVER, EVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law). Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new eBay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If we don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled and we may do the same for negative feedback postings as well. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: Please check the photos over closely and call with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! I make every effort to describe vehicles as accurately as possible, but am sure there’s always a detail or two that I get wrong! You’re encouraged to inspect the truck at our premises on weekdays, so send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. Because of the high fees they charge, we accept PAYPAL for the deposit only. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days of the auctions conclusion unless prior arrangements have been made with me. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! This means you’re not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later (you’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends). If you do decide to have the truck shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from www.U-ship.com. Transporters will bid on delivery of the truck and you'll be able to choose who you want to use. As an alternative, you might also get a quote from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're Ebay's preferred transporter and have a link attached to the Ebay Motors home page that I suggest looking at (see link below). The zip code for pick-up would be 98032 to get an instant on-line quote from either source. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. Make sure you inquire with your shipper about insurance coverage on the vehicles they transport. The Ford can be kept free of charge at our location for a week after full payment has been made. After that time we charge $15 per day storage. The Buyer will be responsible for the licensing requirements in their state of residence. ONLY if you live here in Washington State we’ll need to collect the 9.8% sales tax, title preparation, transfer and registration fees (this means if you’re from out-of-state all we will need to collect from you is the $50 document fee and you can deal with anything else back home). The State of Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Venue shall be exclusively in King County. The final contract signed between both buyer and seller shall be binding. The final signed contract and terms thereof shall govern the sale. All disputes arising out of or relating to this auction, any negotiations, the signed agreement, or to the breach, enforcement or interpretation thereof, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Washington, in accordance with the terms contained in the final sale agreement and under the laws of the State of Washington. Whew! Don’t you just love legalese?
