Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 2005 BMW R1200GS motorcycle. This is truly the best bike I have ever owned or ridden. It is fantastic over long trips, with its excellent seat, upright riding position, power, and wind protection. At the same time, it handles great for around town and in parking lots. It also is rated very highly for off-road use, but it is a little heavy for intense off-roading. This bike has never been taken on any serious off-roading, but I have used it on dirt roads and trails and it has handled very well for its size. BMW got this bike right and you will not be disappointed with it! The bike has 28,800 miles on it and I am the third owner. The first owner was an older gentleman who pampered it and put on most of the aftermarket pieces. When he was no longer able to ride it due to health reasons, he sold it to a family friend who only owned it briefly due to him losing his job. I bought it from him three years ago and have maintained it well. I am only selling due to the arrival of another child, which hasn't given me as much time to ride. I cannot overstress has good this bike is and how I would own another in a heartbeat. Options and aftermarket (ABS is stock on this bike, I believe): Spoked wheels I-way GPS mounted on the handlebars Extra-large BMW handguards Extra-large aftermarket windscreen Hepco-Becker aftermarket crash bars Aftermarket two-piece leather seat (excellent and much better than stock!) PIAA fog lights Cable for trickle charger attached directly to battery and hangs under seat edge, making for easy trickle charging Aftermarket bolt-on passenger backrest BMW hardcase panniers that telescope out for two size modes Recent Metzeler Tourance tires with 1000 miles on them Heated grips Heat wraps for the exhaust pipes Sheepskin removable slip-on seat cover (good for long trips or cold days) These options and aftermarket pieces are worth thousands extra! You will not find another bike with all this! The bike will ship with the owner's manual. The bike has never been down and only has some very slight scratches on its frame and swing arm. It has never been in an accident of any type. It only has two problems of any kind, both minor: 1) the gear display will often display N – Neutral when you are in fact in first gear, but only when the bike first starts up. All other gears display correctly at all times. After it warms up and you go through the gears while riding, the screen will display Neutral and 1st correctly, so I have always seen this as a non-issue and never bothered to address it; 2) the bashplate has a broken bolt. The bashplate will ship with the bike and it is fine, but the broken bolt will have to be drilled out of the bike. I never fixed it because I don't do any serious off-roading and don't need the underside bashplate. It is a pretty easy fix if you have the tools. That is it! I know of no other issues of any kind and those two I listed are very minor. I ride this bike often and it has been perfectly reliable and needed no major repairs. This bike is loaded and ready to ride! The bike is up to date on maintenance and will need its 30,000 mile maintenance in about 1000 miles. This bike has very low miles for its age and most of its miles are California highway miles! These BMWs can go strong for over 100,000 miles. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I can deliver the bike to local buyers or to the buyer's preferred local shipping agent. The bike is California registered through June 2012. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Thanks for looking!EDIT: I forgot to include the aftermarket mechanical cruise control (twist on to lock, twist off to unlock). This is a great feature for long trips to rest your throttle hand. Also, the bike will ship with 2 keys (the bike uses 1 key for ignition, hard cases, and seat removal, another great feature). On Aug-22-11 at 18:50:05 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: I accidentally pasted the previous description when I tried to add the bit about the cruise control and keys. Ebay will not let me remove the duplicate text in the description since there is a bid. I'd rather not end the item and relist altogether since there are a lot of watchers and a bidder already.
