FOR SALE IS A 1999 VOLVO C70 TURBO CONVERTIBLE IN NEED OF MECHANICAL WORK, AT THIS TIME ALL IT NEEDS IS FINISHING SINCE MOST OF THE WORK HAS BEEN DONE ALREADY, IF YOU WANT A COOL CAR & DON'T MIND GETTING A LITTLE OF ELBOW GREASE ON YOU, THIS IS YOUR CAR, I'LL EXPLAIN MORE FURTHER ON DOWN. The original VIN # was not the right one, the right VIN # is: YV1NC56D1XJ002472, apology for the typo. The Terms and Conditions: 1) The car must be towed no later than a week after the auction ends. 2) A $250.00 non-refundable deposit must be made by the buyer via PayPal no later than 12 hours after the auction ends. 3) The balance must be paid no later than 7 days after the auction ends. 4) The car is sold AS IS where is, no warranty is given or implied. 5) Towing fees and similar expenses are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I'm starting the bidding at $2.000.00 much less than what I have invested in this Volvo, any less and I will have to start thinking what to do with it, I have about $4.000,00 invested, is a nice car and starts at a very nice price, a mechanics dream, if I was well I think I could finish it easy in less than a week, specially since a bunch of new parts are included. I am selling several items at this time (Garage pre-Winter clean-up) most of them car related, to see my other auctions please click HERE Here we go: I bought this Volvo in eBay with the idea of fixing it and owning a car that was well above my budget, I had a conversation with a neighbor who worked at Himke Honda and he accepted doing the mechanical work for which I was going to pay him the same hourly rate that Honda was paying him at that time, since I'm disabled and I couldn't do the work myself, which it would have been ideal since I was a line technician in the 70's and worked on Nissan; Toyota; BMW and Mercedes, in short he was going to be my hands while I showed him what to do, my mistake was that I paid him at the end of the day instead of paying him at the end of the job, long story short almost at the end, he didn't want to work anymore as he had been and I found myself with an unfinished car that sat in my garage until today in need of completion being the reason why the buyer is going to be able to buy a very nice car for a low price, I had my third Thoracic Spine Surgery on May this year and there is no way that I can finish the work making me choose selling it AS IS, loosing my shirt and then some. I'm giving this explanation so the potential buyers understand what's the reason why I'm selling it AS IS. The Volvo had a burned head gasket and a bad valve on Cylinder #3, I contacted Alabama Cylinder Head a large outfit in Alabama that sells reconditioned heads or will recondition yours for a reasonable price as it was the case with mine, the cylinder head was pressure tested and completely reconditioned, valves and guides replaced as necessary, in short it came back looking like a new cylinder head, it was placed on the block with a new head gasket with the cams timed at TDC (Top Dead Center) and the pistons as well, I bought a set of Volvo Cylinder Head tools that I will include with the car, to finish the job correctly It was torqued and further tighten as per Volvo specifications, I saw that the work was done the right way including the bolting of the top half of the head after using genuine Volvo sealer ($40 a tube) and that was the time in which my neighbor suffered an attack of laziness and decided not to do further work on my Volvo, yes I was very upset. The car buyer will receive at no charge the following items: 1) Volvo Cyl. Head Tools; 2) New Lower engine mount; 3) New timing belt; 4) New T. Belt Pulley; 5) New AC Pulley; 6) 5 New Spark Plugs; 7) 5 New Spark Plugs resistor/covers; 8) Reminder of the Volvo Cyl. Head sealant; 9) The Volvo Repair Manual in a DVD and a few other items that will take some time to enumerate, I could sell all these items separately but since I bought them for the car they will go with it, I can only hope that the buyer will appreciate the fact that he/she's getting the best of me on this sale. In addition to these extras, all the parts removed from the car when the repairs started are boxed and set aside so they can be easily included with the Volvo when is towed away. Anyway, the pictures bellow shows how advanced the repairs are and how little more needs to be done for the car to be road worthy as well as a pic at some of the Volvo Tools for removal and installation of a Cyl. Head including also a pic of the box the recondition Head arrived after I sent it to Alabama Cyl. Head: Please note the top part of the head showing at the seam some of the extra Volvo Sealant that squeezed out when bolting it as it's expected to do, I was told it will clean easily. This pic shows the Volvo Cyl. Head tool locking the cams in the TDC position. This next one is a closer look at the camshafts locked in TDC, incidentally, the Cyl Head Tools are a must to have in my opinion being the reason why I bought them, they are not cheap and I will include them for free since I'm certain I won't be ever involved in repairing another one.. This next Pic shows the Crankshaft locking tool, it has a Red Plastic top, Crankshaft is also locked in TDC. I want the buyer to be certain that there was no guess work done in this car. The box, affirming further my statement that the head was fully re-conditioned. In my opinion the Alabama Cylinder Head outfit did a top quality job in record time, using UPS as their carrier back and forth. The pictures you will see bellow are of the Volvo but taken and published in the auction I bought the car, they were correct and showed the condition the car was in accurately, since the car has been garaged for about 2 years plus I decided to use them instead of trying to take new pics. of the car. Basically is in the same exact condition it was in when I bought it, I used the services of a car carrier to have it transported from Florida to Ohio and with the exception of the unfinished repairs nothing else has changed. FLORIDA CAR NEVER IN THE SNOW. The original seller said this about the C70 Our dealership has run an independent report on this vehicle and stands by its current reading. There are no signs or smells that this vehicle was ever smoked in.This vehicle has a smooth shifting transmission, vehicle has a bad piston, engine needs to be repaired or replaced. The clean exterior on this vehicle is a car wash dream. Clean interior. This vehicle's tires are slightly worn, but there is over 75% of tread life left. The only mistakes in that description are these: 1) It needed a valve and head gasket, not a piston; 2) The tires don't have 75% left, they have less; 3) Didn't mention that one of the front power windows wasn't working, other than those mistakes the rest remains the same. The top doesn't leak, I was told that there is a convertible top paint that is plastic based and will cover all imperfections found in the top, it can be used only if the top isn't leaking which is the case with this one.
