Vehicle Detail
***THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION*** This is a 1985 Toyota Tercel 4WD Wagon SR5 with 88K original miles. It has the 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission (regular 5-speed overdrive plus an Extra Low gear for use only when in 4WD), and on-demand switching from front wheel drive to four wheel drive. I bought the wagon in August 2005 with 41K miles on it. It has always been very reliable and averages about 30 mpg. The four-wheel-drive system lets you travel in nearly any weather condition. If you're still with me, I'll give some details: First some good points: -Engine, transmission, and both front and rear differentials work smoothly. 88K is low mileage for a Tercel wagon. Has had regular oil changes and maintenance. Starts easily, idles well, and runs strong. Stops well. -Excellent interior, with no rips or stains to the seats or carpet, no cracks to the dashboard, and no rips to the headliner (see photos). The driver's seat has some light wear barely visible, the other seats look new. We don't smoke, have kids, or pets. -Rare factory sliding sunroof option is in working condition. And it doesn't leak ! -Excellent tires (plenty of miles left) on factory SR5 alloy wheels. Original spare tire on white steel wheel has probably never been on the road. Handles and steers nicely. -New in the last 10K miles are ball joints, sway bar bushings, right front axle diff seal, front brake rotors, pads, and hoses, Bosal cat-back exhaust pipe and muffler, and radiator cooling fan. -Original 4-speaker FM/AM radio sounds good, no cd or cassette. -Lighting, digital clock, and other electricals are working well. Included are the factory workshop manual (cover damaged), the original owner's manual, a set of QAS rubber floor mats, 1 original key, and 4 duplicates. -There are no warning lights lit on the dash. -All of the window glass is in excellent condition. Factory 2-tone paint and roof rack. -Just passed inspection, including emissions. Inspection good in NJ until August 31st, 2013. -Clear NJ title in hand. The known bad points: -There is the 'woob-woob' sound coming from the front end during tight, slow turns which means that the car will probably need front axle CV joints sometime in the (possibly near) future. -The air conditioning was blowing cold until about 6 weeks ago when the compressor seized up, so that will need to be replaced. The system has been converted to the current R134a freon though. -The 2 large heater control levers on the dash are not working. The Hot/Cold lever can be switched at the valve under the hood. I've been switching it to Heat in the late fall, and back to Cold in the spring. The Direction lever is stuck on Bi-Level (part face, part feet, very little defrost). This is fine until you need full defrost, so that needs to be fixed. The fresh air lever and the fan switch work fine. -The Intermittent wiper setting does not work. Lo, Hi, and Wash work fine. Included is a used wiper/light combo switch if you want to try to get Intermittent back, but it is an un-tested salvage part. -The wagon's biggest problem is the body rust that is present in several different areas, mostly in the dark blue painted areas. The wagon has some pre-rust bubbles, some small surface rust spots, and some more serious spots on the front wheel arches and door bottoms (see photos). Other areas with problems are a rear door frame and one corner of the sunroof panel. The rest of the paint is generally shiny, but there are a few small dings and scratches. About AutoCheck listing 4 owners, the first 2 were members of the same household and the 3rd was the dealer I bought it from. I consider myself the 2nd owner. Also, Ebay's info above shows a Driver Air Bag. Of course there's no airbag in this car.The odometer reading will be a couple hundred miles more by the end of the auction, as I am still using the wagon most days. Please ask any specific questions you might have. Whether you have access to affordable body/paint work or just want a reliable, all-weather vehicle to use as-is, this Tercel might be what you're looking for. It's located near Lambertville, New Jersey 08530. That's an hour and a half west of New York City and about an hour north of Philadelphia. A non-refundable deposit of $200 by Paypal is due within 48 hours of auction end. Payment in full by Cashier's Check or Cash in-person within 7 days, please. If the winning bidder wants to make arrangements for shipping the Tercel, I will be available to meet your shipper at my home for pickup. The Tercel is also being advertised in other media, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction if it is sold outside of ebay. I don't normally sell cars, but have a look at my ebay rating of 100% positive feedback on over 750 other transactions. Thank you for bidding. *** PLEASE DON'T BID UNLESS YOU WANT THE TERCEL AND ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. THANK YOU ***
