Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1957 Chevrolet Belair 2 Door Hardtop, this car was built and stayed in Southern California until I brought it with me to GA in 2006. It was basically as rust free body and still has all of its original metal except one small section on the driver’s side rear fender which had to be replaced due to a fork lift accident. The floors had to have small patches welded in and sealed, but the original metal is still there. It has no trunk, frame, or body brace rust. Most of the issues with this car were 50 years of small dents. The car will be registered here next week so that I can drive it to the glass shop to have a new windshield installed and the original back glass which was still very good. I also had a new passenger side window installed as well. So there will be no broken glass in the car when it leaves. It has a lot of new parts gas tank battery and many more. What it needs: I do not have any of the windshield wiper pieces I did plan to change it over from the original cables to a more reliable system offered by Danchuk, but wanted to sell this car and the more money I added the more I would have to get to sell it. It does not have a heater core and the cables that work it were bad but easily acquired, It needs the door panels and seats redone, I have the new headliner still in a box and the rugs although are a very cheap JC Whitney set are in the car already. It needs all new weather stripping, the horn and relay, I did replace the rear wheel cylinders and have the new fronts that will come with the car along with a steering box rebuild kit, and a complete set of body bushing if you decide to do a frame off. It needs the rocker panel stainless pieces, a clock and a radio. The bumpers and hood bar and parking light bar needs to be re-chromed. It needs tail pipes from the mufflers back it does have two very short pipes that end by the traction bars. The two barrel carb is running very rich and attempts to change that have been unsuccessful, I will add a four barrel aluminum manifold so that you will have that option to change it to a quad. The motor is a 55 265 that has been sitting for a long time and the person I bought it from said that he poured oil in the cylinders to keep the motor from seizing it does smoke but I am not sure if it needs rings or just needs to be driven and the gas issues resolved. I have a lot of money already invested in this car and could be driven although it has not been on the road since the late 60’s when it was retired from drag racing. It was originally a dual quad car but I do not have the original motor which is the only way to verify that but do have contacts that can fill you in on its history along with the mechanic that use to service the car when it was being raced. All of the lights and windows work well. I will include all of the tri five chevy parts I have with this car some new some used I believe there are several containers of parts. I will not put the inside trim pieces on because they will have to be removed anyway to install the interior they are all painted black to match the rest of the interior. I left CA before I could get the a replacement title but have all of the paper work necessary to have that done and will send that to Sacrament Monday. No title is required here in GA but I did have to have the Vin # Verified and that was done today by the local sheriffs department. I see a lot of rusty cars go for a lot more money than I am requesting for this car you can come and look at the car although I travel all the time someone will be here to open the garage for you. The best way to get additional information on this car is by email through ebay. I am not giving out the reserve so please don’t ask. I am advertizing this car locally and on Craig’s list and a few TRI FIVE clubs so it may end at any time. It is being sold as is where is and the buyer is expected to pick the car up, I will store it free of charge for up to thirty days as long as it is paid for in full.
