Rare! Nicely Restored Jaguar Saloon VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: OWNER HISTORY: The owner of this beautiful Jaguar purchased it in 1997 to restore to concours condition. It was sent to Muncie Imports & Classics who commenced a 3 year comprehensive restoration to original specifications. The car was completely disassembled including the suspension, engine, transmission, and interior. New red leather hides reupholstered the seats and a new wool headliner was installed along with new door panels and carpets. All the interior wood was removed and refinished. The suspension was powder coated, the engine refreshed, and the transmission was rebuilt prior to reassembly. A period aftermarket A/C unit was installed for driving comfort. The car was repainted to a high standard in its original Silver Grey color and all brightwork was replaced or replated. During the restoration Muncie Imports displayed it in their booth at the Fall Auburn Festival (see photo). Once completed in 1999 and with a new set of chrome wire wheels and Michelin tires it was exhibited at various shows, receiving a 99.65 score from Jaguar Club North America judges. The receipts indicate in excess of $100,000 was spent to restore this beautiful, rare, and luxurious Jaguar “S” Type Saloon to original condition. In 2006 it was appraised by AAG and rated as “Outstanding” with an appraised value of $55,000. The owner recently passed away and this wonderfully restored vehicle is ready for someone with a love of fine automobiles to show and enjoy. Longer, lower and larger than its immediate predecessor – the Jaguar Mark II, the “S” model was a spacious 5-seater providing the utmost in interior comfort.
