1978 Volkswagen Vw Rabbit C Diesel 1.5 Naturally Aspirated ( non-turbo ) 4 speed Transmission Odometer reads: 29,000 only has 5 digits, so assume its 129,000 Repainted by a previous owner - looks GREAT Nice 13" Rims / tires Great Brown interior No sunroof - beautiful White headliner Just drove it 280 miles in 4th gear doing 75-80 MPH - got home and still had half tank of gas. Runs great. Tight suspension, non-power brakes. Looks like a rebuilt / new injection pump ( its shiney ) and the alternator is also shinney so think its been replaced. New exhaust from center pipe to rear of car including new muffler. Only bad spot of rust in rear apron in passenger side lower corner - other corner on rear apron has some rust bubbles under paint. Floor pans, rocker panels and strut towers are RUST FREE. Interior is Awesome. Passenger side seat has slight tear along outside seam - door panels look NEW - headliner looks NEW Has some carpet squares for floor mats - currently - they are included for free.... There is a scratch on driver side door that has been " repaired " right under the trim line - there is a picture. All the chrome window trim is there, new windshield as well. Also the car has 2 aftermarket horns with buttons on the lower dash - one is a dual air horn - the other is some weird horn sounds like a GRINDER or something. What is funny is that the actual horn button on steering wheel does not WORK. Car is sometimes hard to get into first gear - i just replaed all the shift linkage which helped but its still sometimes doesnt want to go into 1st gear. If you go into 2nd gear first, then shift it up to 1st is usually goes into 1st gear, other times it fights you. Passenger side window regulator doesnt work - i have a used one on its way. So it will be included in the sale and i will probably replace it once it gets here, being shipped from other side of the country. When cold started - it takes a bit for it to warm up- once you get out and drive it, it runs PERFECT - just first start in the morning a little hard but always fires up and goes. Its missing 2 hub caps - i keep forgetting stuff and having to come back and edit. I just did oil change yesterday! This car is very rare that isnt a rust bucket - having no sunroof, no sunroof, no rear carpet, no tape player, has flag , non-remote mirrors - very basic car which i think makes it more desirable.
