Vehicle Detail
Very rare 1970 barracuda convertible with a 225 slant six 1-bb and automatic transmission on the column. This car is one of only 158 built with this engine/transmission combination. Rally Red exterior with white vinyl interior and convertible top, bucket seats, power top, manual drum brakes, power steering and 14" rally wheels. New carb, water pump, plugs, points and condenser.Odometer shows 27,514 miles. I'm assuming this is 127,514 miles. Rally hood and dual exhaust were added by a previous owner. The car runs and drives well although the steering feels a little loose when driving. The VIN on the dash matches the fender tag, cowl number and engine number. I was not able to find a number on the radiator support so it was either replaced at some point or I’m looking in the wrong place. The tires have good tread but have cracks in the side walls and will need to be replaced. According to the codes on the fender tag the original interior was black so someone replaced it with white seats and door panels at some point. The "V3W" code on the tag indicates that white is the correct color for the convertible top. There is rust on the body and bondo has been used over the years for repairs. The car looks great from a few feet away but if you get close you can see the many imperfections. The previous owner backed into something and cracked the rear panel next to the passenger side taillight. The truck floor is completely rusted out and a metal plate has been welded in. The convertible top is in good condition, but the vinyl window is sun damaged to the point where it’s not usable. The dash has a number of cracks and is covered up by a dash pad that was glued on by the previous owner and the passenger side mirror glass is missing. I have recently inherited this car from my father who purchased it in 1995 from a person that bought it at auction from an insurance company. The car had been stolen and declared a “total loss” by the insurance company. When the car was recovered it was sold at auction. Unfortunately it has a salvage title as a result of the theft. The car was not wrecked or fire damaged. The previous owner had the frame of the car professionally evaluated to confirm it had not been damaged. I’ve described most of the issues that I know of but keep in mind the car is 41 years old and has 127,000 miles on it. There are lots of minor issues and I cannot list all of them in an auction. If you have specific questions please email and I will try to answer as best I can. The car is located in Ramona CA and can be viewed by appointment. This could be a great driver for someone who wants to drive a barracuda convertible without having to worry and park diagonal at the end of the lot, or the perfect starting point for a Hemi Cuda convertible!
