Vehicle Detail
If you're looking at this listing, you probably know about mid 80s Toyota Pickups. These tough, well-built trucks were true work horses, the definition of reliable service. Toyota stopped making these after the 1988 model, the Tacoma era followed You don't see many of this vintage on the road anymore, especially in New EnglandThis one is a rare gem and aside from the "eye candy" appeal of this truck, the mechanical and physical upgrades are its greatest assets: NEW COOLING SYSTEM including radiator, coolant pipe (return into block) and hoses NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM including manifold down pipe, catalytic converter, pipes and muffler NEW EMERGENCY BRAKE including full length OEM cable & pivot arm NEW BRAKES with recent system bleed NEW TIRES $800. investment with less than 50 miles REFINISHED WHEELS original equipment were sand blasted and re-painted and fit with locking lug nuts NEWLY CONSTRUCTED STAKE BED custom made from oak (cross members), cedar (deck) and painted pine (rails & trim) matching the cab giving the truck a rich, vintage farm equipment look NEW SHOCKS in the front, rears good NEW PAINT ALL AROUND The motor is rock solid. The transmission is tight with very smooth shifting, stick clicks into each gear, clutch is fine, electrics are all goodSteering tracks dead straight - no pulling either way, no play in the steering wheel or front end suspensionFour wheel drive works fine - manual locking hubs turn easily In the interest of full disclosure:Ignition keys do not match door locks (doors were from a different truck)Split rear window sticks in its track a little but works/locks OK4 speaker stereo is after market but sounds OKSmall crack in the dash (see picture)Paint job is not pro quality. The product used, the coverage and the protection are all fine - just some drips here and there I purchased this truck to be used locally around town for firewood hauling, dump runs and just fun driving . After investing a sizable amount of cash for improvements, I need to let it go to free up cash for some unexpected (expensive) home repairs. My goal here is to recoup my investment, not necessarily to make a profit. This truck is a rare beauty that will make someone very happy. Built in September of 1987, it will be eligible for antique status next year, at least that's the case here in New Hampshire. I can clearly see this truck in a town parade - it's that good looking. Recently inspected - everything checks out. My mechanic says it's a good solid vehicle. The guys at the inspection station were most impressed with its condition for its age.I want there to be be no surprises if you buy this truck. It should serve you well for many years to come with only 171,000 miles on the odometer and all of the recent mechanical improvements.Have a look at the many pictures I've posted here and ask me questions. If you need a specific photo, let me know and I'll send it to you. I reply to emails in a timely manner and will welcome a phone conversation with a serious buyer. The truck is located in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area so it's only an hour drive from Boston or Portland. Anyone who wants to see and drive it before bidding is welcome to do so. The reserve is set at my cash outlay amount, which is comparatively low for such a rare find. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
