Vehicle Detail
I have had this car for 18 years, I bought it when I was seventeen and drove it for 4 years, since then it has mostly been stored. About 2 months ago I got it out of the garage and have been using it as my daily driver. Keep in mind that most of the work was done by me 18 years ago and I am only trying to remember exactly what was done. It has Cragar/Weld Draglites, 1-7/8 Hooker Headers (still has power-steering), Aluminum intake, custom cam from Oregon Cam Grinding, Professionally ported and polished later model heads, huge pushrods, Holley 3310-2, 2-1/2" dual exhaust with flowmasters and 3" tailpipes, 3.55:1 gears with a trac-loc posi, highly-functioning traction bars, Transpro shift kit, B&M torque converter that stalls a little higher than stock The rear diff housing was narrowed about 7-1/2" and uses Maverick Grabber Forged axles. This allowed me to use the deep 10" wheels in the back with the 7" wheels in the front and end up with the outside face of the wheels even, so it doesn't look all goofy. Things that are wrong- cracked windshield, a few hundred dings and 2 dents (the dents and many dings are all from being in storage), it has rust in the rear passenger fender, headliner has come loose around the rear window, manual drum brakes all the way around, somebody mangled the hood when I left it parked on the street, I got it roughly back in place. The good news is that the dent and rust are in the same spot so they can easily be fixed at the same time. The motor and transmission are from a 1971 Thunderbird, I swapped on later heads to lower the compression ratio to something a bit more manageable. I am very proud of the stance for this car, the front springs are from the 1971 Thunderbird, I cut them down with a thin wheel (meaning no heat) until I got the height that I liked, it is much taller than stock. This car ran 103 in the 1/4 mile at Woodburn with an open 3.25:1 diff, manifolds, stock ignition, many other handicaps. It got much faster. It currently has a cam selected by Oregon Cam Grinding, it lost quite a bit of power with this selection, you could go back to the big Crower I used to run and get about 30HP back. OCG said they selected the cam because my stall wasn't high enough for the one I had been using and it would affect drivability. I disagree, the Crower was a lot more fun to drive. If I was keeping this car I would put disc brakes on it, use my boot to fix the big dent, and drive it the way it is but it could also be fixed up nicely and enjoyed. If you are looking for matching numbers and everything original you should probably be looking at Chevelles in the first place and this isn't the car you are looking for for sure. It has Cobra emblems on the fenders, I bought it this way, it isn't a Cobra, and I don't need my butt kicked by an angry old man for "molesting a Cobra" and the old man should know that Cobras never came as coupes. I don't like wasting anybody's time with reserves, win the auction get the car. The auction price is the price, you can't argue that I misrepresented the car and you now think you should pay less, it is your job to check it out and know what you are buying. Come see it and I will take you for a ride, prove your not a joker and you can handle an old muscle-car and I might let you drive it. The pictures are current except for the burnout one, it was taken in 1994 and it still had the open diff. It looks dirty because it is. I last washed the car in May 2002 a few days before I got married. Pictures can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/boletivore/sets/72157626473235878/ I am selling the car because I don't love it the way I used to and I don't drive it enough and a new baby and a new business take up all of my time.On Jul-29-11 at 11:31:40 PDT, seller added the following information: 10 new pictures detailing rust http://www.flickr.com/photos/boletivore/sets/72157626473235878/ More things I have thought of - Battery in trunk, B&M gated shifter, Ford electronic ignition
