Vehicle Detail
Absolutely gorgeous 1959 TR3. Everyone has a car that takes them back to their youth and this one is mine. My very first car was a red TR3 and when I found this car four years ago I just knew I had to have it. The previous owner had had it for years and had done a cosmetic and mechanical restoration that had won him many trophies in car shows. I decided to take it to the next level and have invested an enormous amount in this car. I sent the car to North Carolina where it stayed for over six months. The running gear was fine but as many cars of this era it had some rust on the underside that I wanted eradicated. The car was basically taken apart and put back together with new floors, battery box and anything else that needed repair. I installed all new wiring, aluminum radiator with thermostatically controlled electric fan, new heater, new modern alternator and upgrade TR4 clutch and pressure plate. The interior is beautiful and the car comes with a tan top, toneau cover and factory windows. It has the hard to find Lucus lights, racing windshields, luggage rack and wire wheels(chrome not painted). All gauges, horn, signals and lights work fine. Anything that wasn't working was replaced. I keep the car in my home garage as the pictures show and it is like a member of the family. It doesnot get driven in the rain and has not spent a night outside since its renovations were completed. As all cars of this era, it does drop some oil so I keep a cardboard piece under it. I drive it about 50 miles a month but with the South Carolina heat that has been mostly in the evenings. I have decided to list the car but this is not a "have to" sell auction. We rarely ever get what we invest in our toys and that will definately be the case with this car. However, I do intend to get the value that represents its condition and equipment. Over $40,000 has been put in this car to make it what it is so please do not make offers that are not in keeping with a fair retail value for the true car collector. There are a ton of these out there if you want a project car that can be bought for $15,000+. If those are what you are looking for please spare me the inconvienience of replying. There are three items that if you are as picky me you might repair. The turn signals work fine but will no longer cancel. That sterring wheel mounted unit is avaliable and is not very expensive. The windows are in great shape but when the car was redone the body shop did not have the detachable windows so the eyelets no longer line up on the door. This has not been a problem for me because I only drive in good weather. A upholstery shop can easily repair. And now to the one that broke my heart when it happened. The trunk has an interior prop rod that keeps the trunk lid open when accessing the trunk. While it was in my shop, one of my employees tried to close the trunk without placing the prop rod in its holder. It is not that noticeable but it made me sick. The paint finish was stressed to where there is a hairline crack in the paint. All the paint is still there but has a fine line beside the right rear trunk hinge. That is about all I can say about this fine piece of European history. Good bidding! I will be on vacation this week but will check my messages daily. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1000.00 PAY PAL DEPOSIT IS DUE IMMEDIATELY AFTER WINNING AUCTION. Your state sales tax will apply. Full payment within 10 days of auction. Car will not move until payment has been made in full. Do not bid on this car unless you fully intend to purchase under these guidelines. AS WITH ANY CAR OF THIS AGE YOU ARE BUYING IT AS-IS WHERE-IS WITH NO WARRANTY!
