1987 BMW M6 offered by private seller. This handsome German Muscle Car has been a daily driver for the past 3 years, but the driver needs a pickup truck for snowboarding and kayaking, so this unique vehicle is being offered for sale with a very reasonable Reserve. The Great things about this car: The engine and transmission are in excellent condition, and the car CAN run like a scalded dog if you desire to test the upper limits. As a daily driver, we never pushed the car as hard as is possible with this race bred engine from BMW's original M1 Race/Supercar. We did "clear" the engine with occasional revs to 4,000 RPM as specified in the Owner's Manual. This engine loves to run, and as a straight 6 it is naturally balanced for autobahn cruising.New brakes all around, less than 50 miles since pads were changed, and rotors turned.Bridgestone Fusion tires have less than 2,000 miles.New Coil, Distributor, and plugs within the last 50 miles. New vacuum tubes on the engine control system have also been replaced. The engine idles smoothly and revs effortlessly.New Battery installed 2 weeks ago. High capacity/high Cold Cranking Amps.Beautiful paint. The car has had a "sympathetic respray" in its lifetime, and I have never found rust on the body or frame.$200 detail, shampoo, polish, clay bar, etc was completed just last week.Southern car. Bought new in St. Petersburg, FL, and has been in FL, SC, NC, and GA.Alpine Stereo with single CD and iPod jack (iPod not included), and power antenna.Sunroof moves quickly and quietly. A "Bene-Vento" Sunroof Wind deflector is included, but not currently installed. The factory air diffuser on the sunroof works well to reduce wind rush at speed.DINAN PERFORMANCE CHIP is installed.RACING DYNAMICS FRONT STRUT BRACE is installed for additional stiffness in the front end.SPLIT SECOND ARM1 Air/Fuel Ratio Meter system is installed. You can dial in the Air/Fuel Ratio Calibrations for the engine, and the instruction book is included.K&N Air Filter system installed. Maintenance package included in sale.Car was lowered approximately 1.5 inches, and the tie-rod and drag links were upgraded at that time. The car has more than the factory specified negative rear camber for better handling at speed.The factory hydraulic rear suspension was replaced sometime ago with a standard rear suspension set-up when the car was lowered.Oil change and filter change less than 3 months ago.All of the seat, window, and sunroof electrics work correctly, as does the 3 position Memory Seat. The Front Seats have multiple adjustments for rake, recline, headrest height, and thigh support. All of the motors work correctly.KEYLESS ENTRY, both door and trunk.The original TRX wheels and tires are included in this sale (see picture), if you wish to return the car to its original 1987 configuration. Coker Tire in Chattanooga sells new TRX tires, see their website.The pull up shade for the rear window works correctly.Doors, trunk, and hood shut correctly with the BMW thump. The car's panels are straight, I believe the bodywork to be all original, and I find no evidence that the car was ever wrecked or body panels repaired/replaced.A custom fitted car cover (see picture) is included and the car has been covered regularly when it has not been in an enclosed garage.The original front brake rotors are included with the car. The front brakes were upgraded to ventilated and slotted discs by a previous owner.Includes a full tank of fresh Premium Fuel (93 octane).What you may wish to upgrade on the car: The leather on the front seats, especially the driver's seat could use replacement. You can tell that the car has been in the South all of its life! The rear seat leathers look fine.The A/C leaks down after a charge. It is probably the valve that diverts refrigerant to the back seat supplemental A/C blower/evaporator. The front air dam is cracked horizontally. I have it wired with Stainless to keep it intact.Odometer shows 127,000 miles, but like almost all 6 Series of this vintage, the odometer wheel stopped working. I'm estimating the mileage at 150,000. I have an ad for the car when it was sold in 2002, and it lists the mileage at 115,000 miles, so this car has probably been driven fewer than 35,000 miles in the last 9 years.The car's windows were tinted at some time, and when the tinting was removed, some of the wiring in the rear window defroster grid was damaged. The rear window has some areas that are spotty on defrost.The tool kit is mostly complete, except for the spark plug socket and a few other parts. The Jack and wheel chock are included, they work correctly, but appear to have been used sparingly if at all over the life of the car.This is a chance to own a legendary design in great condition with a very reasonable reserve price. Full payment by Money Order, Cash, or Certified Bank Funds within 7 days or at the time you pick up the vehicle whichever is soonest. Pick up must be made within 7 days of the end of the auction as I have another vehicle coming in that needs the garage space. Storage fee of $15 per day will be assessed from the 8th day after the end of the auction until you take delivery of the vehicle. Vehicle must be picked up by August 18, 2011, or I will re-list the vehicle and your deposit is non-refundable. I don't particularly like this option, but I have had a buyer make excuses on picking up the vehicle for an extended period which threw my shop into disarray as I need the space. Shipping and or pick up is the responsibility of the buyer, and I will be happy to make the vehicle available for your pick up service or truck line. The car is currently stored in an enclosed garage in Savannah, Georgia (near Hilton Head, SC) The car is offered with a CLEAN TITLE that will be signed over to the new owner at the time of delivery or pick up and payment of the full amount of the sale by Certified Bank Funds or Money Order or cash is complete.
