Vehicle Detail
This is a No Reserve auction for a vintage, low miles 1979 Triumph Bonneville 750 motorcycle, model T140E. I bought it in Sept 1995. It had 3875 miles on it then, and has 5035 on it now (I had other, higher mileage bikes that I was using as everyday riders). This very nice Bonnie has been continuously registered, insured, inspected, and maintained during the time I've had it. It has been garage kept and covered. This bike has had no 'restoration' of any kind, and has matching frame and engine numbers. Paint and chrome are all original, in excellent condition. It looks great, starts easily, runs strong, and handles well. The tank is black, with silver flares and gold double pin-striping. This is a 750cc vertical twin cylinder engine with 5 speed gearbox (std. left foot shift). 79 was also the first year with electronic ignition from the factory. It has the optional grab rail / parcel shelf. All the lights, signals, horn, etc work well. The seat is in excellent condition, with no cracks, rips, or tears, but the Triumph logo on the back of it is faded so that it's nearly invisible. I just put a new battery in this week. After taking these pictures, I took it on a 20 mile ride that I wish was 200. This bike is a standard US spec T140E with the following exceptions: -The original high-rise handlebars were replaced with the lower bars from the Triumph Trident. -The original long mufflers were replaced with the shorter 'pea shooters' from the Norton Commando. -The original US-dealer-installed, cheap chrome mirrors were replaced with a newer black European set. -The original Dunlop tires were replaced with a set of Metzeler Perfect tires when I bought the bike. Though 16 years old, they've covered only 1160 miles and are in good shape. Includes 1 ignition / seat lock key, 1 fork lock key, and 1 ignition key blank. Also included are the Haynes Workshop Manual and a Battery Tender. I have a clear NJ title in hand. If you're looking for a classic Bonneville, consider this beauty. It's located near Lambertville, New Jersey 08530. That's an hour and a half west of New York City and about an hour north of Philadelphia. A Paypal deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours, the balance to be paid by Cashier's Check within 7 days of auction closing, please. If the winning bidder wants to make arrangements for shipping the bike, I will be available to meet your shipper at my home for pickup. The Bonnie is also being advertised in other media, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction if it is sold outside of ebay. I don't normally sell motorcycles or cars, but have a look at my ebay rating of 100% positive feedback on over 750 other transactions. Thank you for bidding.
