Vehicle Detail
A personal possession for many years, now time for a new home and loving owner. First year of the wagon body style and last year of the pretty/cute sloped hood (the post ‘78 models got bulged hoods in front). It’s got a very solid history and a great “vibe” (as it always has from the sweet old couple orig owners), 63k original miles, southern car (Sold by Shelton’s AMC dealership, in Crewe, VA loc. south central VA). I knew the two previous owners and I am the third local owner. It’s got the original 258 inline six (not the lesser 232), automatic on column, Factory A/C (was cold at time of purchase over a decade ago), and front & rear vinyl bench seats. I fell in love, buying then ultimately never driving it, it was driven around a little to the present location, moved a few times, and has been sitting ever since (for an extended period of time). Paint is the original 1970’s Powder Blue (a factory color), it’s still very pretty, somewhat faded (would buff nicely) (see photos) We don’t have harsh winters here, so the coolant system looks OK, and when driven it was not exposed to salt. Body is overall very nice and amazingly straight. Doors do not sag. Interior is pretty sweet, a few broken bits of plastic and bad carpet. A few very small areas of surface rust, and 2 very minor areas of rust through at lower rear corner (see video) in the rear-most lower valence (from accumulated gravel behind tire). There is a small dent on low center, driver door (only about 1”) There is also localized rust-through underneath the battery area, but I can put my entire weight in the area….it’s structurally sound. The battery is held in place well, and the clasp is tight. Floorpans are very solid (see video). The engine (was) running strong when parked, the carb needed a new choke, which began to install and then lost interest. The car is not running currently, has old gas and no choke). Will need at least: air cleaner/filter, new tires (old ones hold air OK), electrical and fuel system major cleaning, and new battery — all before it will run and pass inspection. Windshield and all side windows are NICE. The interior is complete and all original, vinyl front and rear seats are in excellent shap. No major rips or cracks…some loose stitching only (a piece of tape has been in place to prevent further unraveling) The front area carpet is old, worn, stained and dirty — should be fairly cheap to replace. Headliner is great. Car’s location is rural, is safely stored and has electricity for power tools if you need during pickup. Included are original owner’s manual and ... a clear Virginia State title with completed Bill of Sale will be provided. I will try to be present to help if at all possible — buyer is entirely responsible for pickup/removal ultimately. For pickup (or shipping arranged by buyer) only. Winning buyer/bidder will have to pay a small deposit…. and you will have a very generous amount of time for pickup (after deposit at least 45 days, more and be easily arranged), and the car’s location is a safe place. Please study all detailed photos and watch the video. Pacers are getting rare, and are sailing up in value, year by year.
