Vehicle Detail
1969 AMC SC/Rambler (B Scheme) for RESTORATION. This is a good news/not so good news car, I will do my best to describe it but understand it's a 42 year old vehicle and it shows. I've owned it a short time only and have very few miles on it but everything stated here represents the best of my knowledge. If you're interested in the car after reading all below, by all means do come, see and hear it. It's not registered so any road tests will be short and risky (for me). The car is sold as is, no guarantees whatsoever, all sales final. If you're still reading, here's the good news: It's a real deal running/driving/stopping Hurst SC/Rambler, verifiable by the VIN in the dashboard and frame stamping. Also verifiable by other details such as torque links, offset shock mounts, date coded trunk lid, rolled fender lip (only 1 original fender remains on this car), sub-frame connectors etc. The car has the 390, T10 4 speed, Hurst shifter (not the original handle though) and twin grip rear, all original I believe. The engine is strong, you can light the tires effortlessly and the whole drivetrain sounds good in the little bit I've run it. Some of the original engine compartment components are still there such as the chrome valve covers (with tag!), radiator, fan shroud, ram air flapper/actuator and bubble. The original intake manifold comes with the car but there's an Offenhauser on it now. Headers, new exhaust, new clutch, new brake lines/pads/shoes. Also retrofitted with not original but very desireable 2 litre Mountain Dew (yahoo!) windshield washer bottle. More good news: Interior is pretty good (for a 42 year old well driven car). The original seats are there, the front seats have aftermarket covers on them but the original material is underneath. They're ripped in places and need to be restored. The original RWB headrests are in place and have a few cracks but are very useable. The dash pad has the normal cracks by the speaker and several other small cracks, but is decent otherwise. Headliner is intact and very restoreable. Original (I think) AM radio in place - this car was loaded! (scrambler joke). All glass is clear and crack-free, the Hurst mirrors are on the car but the glass is out of them. Parking brake handle is broken, of course, and door panels/handles are not original. Rear bolster panels and all armrests are original and good condition. Steering wheel is original with only a couple of cracks in the rim. The door trim tag is intact with orginal rosette rivets. I believe all of the stainless trim is intact and in good condition, but the lower grill trim does have a dent. Grill is good and bumpers are mostly straight, maybe a ding or two, not totally sure. Some emblems are missing but repops are available. The not-so-good news is the body. There's rust through in the quarters and rockers and they need repair. The sub frame connectors seem solid but they have both been reinforced with a 12" length of channel near the front. The front floor pans are also gone, they've been glassed in so you don't do a Flintstone. The right fender and headlight bezel were damaged slightly since the pics were taken and will need new. The car is not a total rust bucket, it's been stored indoors for the last 22 years and most of it's metal is solid like the trunk pan, cowl, hood, lid, top, pillars etc.. The issues it does have are completely repairable, all you need is time and/or money. Easy! I'm sure I've forgotten to mention some points so please don't hesitate to contact me, my cell is 609-468-4895. I'll assist in loading the car with your shipper, or could also deliver for fuel cost only depending on the distance. Car is for sale locally so right to end auction early is reserved. Thanks for looking.
