1965 FORD MUSTANG ** EXCEPTIONAL PONY ! BEAUTIFUL PRESERVED AUTOMOBILE FORD AND MUSTANG HISTORY HENRY FORD..................His company and his name reads like a mystery novel. He was a fireball of energy, ruthless at times and a take charge leader. I was around and listened to stories of his ambitious moves. He walked through his factory at such a rapid pace others had to run just to keep up with him. He lead by example and demanded the best from all those to chose to follow him. The clock stopped running by the late 40's. There was big trouble ahead. The Company he founded in 1903 was coming apart at the seams. Rapid growth left little time to structure and plan for the future. Henry’s son Edsel died suddenly in 1943. Edsel had, for the most part, taken over the company. Now, 80 year old Henry Ford was forced to take the Company back. It proved to be an impossible task. Edsel's son, Henry Ford II had just been discharged from the Navy and with little experience he took over as President of Ford Motor Company. The company was losing $10 million a month at this point, an enormous amount. There was only one option, turn this monster around. Even president Roosevelt got involved and considered bailing Ford out in order to keep Ford's war production going. Please bear with me and watch what happened next. With practically no grooming, Henry Ford II lead the company back to prominence. His first and most important triumph was in 1948. He introduced the 1949 Ford. WHAT A CAR. ( I remember sitting in one for hours, not believing what I saw. The push button starter was fascinating.) This car received 100,000 orders the FIRST DAY. Henry II did it, just like his grandfather he was aggressive, risk taking and an inspiring leader. All three networks advertised the '49 Ford. Billboards were plastered all over the country showing the car and a man sitting behind the wheel whose hat went flying through the air. The caption: “The '49 Ford. It will knock your hat off.” History repeats itself. Once again, Ford was ready to fall off the planet. It was a time of little or no hope. The glory was gone and the early 60's spelled disaster. All stops were pulled and a brand new car was on stage and ready to excite the whole world. It was introduced just a couple of years after the 1958 - 1960 Edsel disaster. When the red ink dried the Company lost $250,000,000... a quarter billion bucks was a staggering loss. It was the brand new MUSTANG. No one knows for sure how the magic began. There are so many cloudy areas. We do know it happened. One of the most exciting stories ever. Ford was first. It was April 17, 1964 and introduction day. Mustang owners with the slightest bit of interest know this day, 4/17/64. Mustang debuted as a '65 model. As the years have passed there has been a misconception that the first cars were labeled as 64 1/2 models. Not true. All of the first Mustangs were registered as '65 models. Good things have come to Mustang. America's affair with the Mustang began when all three networks ran commercials showing the new Pony car to 29 million viewers. 22,000 orders were taken the first sales day. One million Mustang cars were sold in two short years. The price of $ 2,368. was prominently displayed. This was a car with such high styling, at an economy price. It was a sports car, a dream car and it it even had bucket seats and a floor shift and a sporty 3 spoke steering wheel. Demand far outstripped supply. This was and is a runaway best seller. THIS 1965 MUSTANG The 1965 Mustang offered here is an exceptional car in every way. Make no mistake, this isn't just another ordinary Mustang. It has been treated with extreme care and is fit as a fiddle. I acquired it from the previous owners grand daughter who had inherited it. She was very young and not able to afford storage and insurance, so decided to part with it. The new owner will find this car to be as shown in this offering. It is a first place grand prize! I will do what I can to show it to you with pictures and words displaying it from every angle. Inside and out, I will offer you my opinions and evaluations. There are over 60 close pictures for you to study and enjoy. I encourage you to look at the car. It would be a pleasure to show it to you. It is one of the finest in the land, top quality in every way. The car is a pleasure to drive. It has plenty of power and handles well at any speed. This is the much desired 4 speed car. It corners well, follows a straight line, shifts with ease and looks the best from any angle. The throaty dual exhaust fits the car perfectly, not too loud, not too soft....just right! This is a beautiful automobile.......by any ones standards. This is a highly original automobile and I am able to offer it for not a whole lot more than the 1000's of average or so called restored cars. You would be hard pressed to find one like it. Even though close up pictures show every flaw and mark you will see close ups here, including top side, inside, underside, engine and trunk. The engine and engine compartment will stand up to the best. It is manicured and spotless. A crowd gathers when the hood is opened. Please study the pictures. Every part is bright and shiny. All of the seams including the light surrounds, hood, doors and trunk line up perfectly. Notice also how well the windows fit. This is always an area over looked on restored cars. Too often rust and frame repair workers forget to allow for body and frame sag. There is no rust here and never has been to my knowledge. The odometer reads 34,000 and is believed to be correct. It most certainly looks and acts the part. We make no mileage claim. The interior is in wonderful condition. Expect it to be very good to exceptional - from the dash, sun visors, head liner, seats, door pads, carpets and all of the bright work. Look closely at the optional steering wheel. It is worth its weight in gold. Originals are impossible to find. This one is like new. All in all, this is a fine interior. The exterior is razor straight. The paint is deep and very shiny. I did not find any dents. The chrome and bright work is very good to excellent . All factory seams are secure and in place. No filler here. The fit and finish are top quality. The red exterior with the white interior is by far the best color combination. Today Mustang races ahead. Many years have passed since April 17 1964 yet the Mustang is NUMBER ONE in the list of the ten most desired automobiles in the world. Classic mustangs are a wonderful investment. Buying one that is highly original is always the best investment and will find the fastest increase in value. Mustang.........a wild horse that gets better with time. It embodies all that is free and rebellious. The pony, after almost 50 years, alone remains. The imitators are all gone. The tradition continues. Mustang is America's sports car. A car everybody loves, from sea to shining sea. We like the looks, we like the price and we like the image the car portrays of a wild mustang galloping across the country. You can own this car. It is a first time offering. An exceptional value.
