Vehicle Detail
Hi, To keep the price of this Jeep low, please read closely that the brand new Bestop soft top and 2 piece soft doors are Only INCLUDED WITH THE BUY IT NOW PRICE! OR it is available for and additional $750 after the auction is over if the Jeep is won with bidding instead of Buy it Now which will disappear after the 1st bid is placed. Up for auction is a rare unrestored original paint Southern CJ7 Laredo with the best 4 speed of the era (T176 which works well) and a 258 6 cylinder (that runs well and has plenty of power) I often hear from people that they want one of my Jeeps before we work on it and the prices goes up. Here is one being offered due to us having too much in queue to get to it quickly. It is ready to drive but isn't as new looking (or as expensive) as many of our other uncommonly clean CJs. This is one to drive and restore later or just enjoy it or do a full frame off as it doesn't have the rot issues of 99% of the Jeeps out there. I also know people love shiny things and more than one person has bought a terribly rusty beat up Jeep with shiny paint full of patched up rust holes that bubbles out shortly after purchase or the bondo cracks out etc. It happens every day. This Jeep has no secrets as it is in original paint and decals. It is respectable with 28 year old flaws from being used. The floors have no rust holes nor does the Jeep anywhere. If you take a non original paint vehicle to a body shop and ask them to do it right, they can't give you a firm price until the get the paint off to see what sins are hidden because they don't know what has been patched or filled or what is rotted. In other words, the body shop CAN give you a firm price up front if you chose to paint it but pictures should be taken before-hand to show how solid it is. This Jeep is fully unrestored in original paint and the body can't lie to you. It has no bubbling rust on the sides of the tub where they all go first which is below the JEEP stamp and behind the door where the seat belt pocket is. See the maximum allowed by E-Bay 24 photos for close ups. The floors have surface rust only with no holes excepting those put there by the factory to act as drain holes and those which were drilled for when a forward rollbar was added (and now removed). This is an excellent candidate for Rhino or Linex floor covering as the floors are good but need to have the metal sealed away from oxygen to cease the corrosion that has started. The body is nearly dent free with primarily only scratches and the original paint shines quite well in spite of the hot Southern sun. There is surface rust as shown below the windshield and above the left rear tail light where the JEEP decal was removed and probably pulled the paint with it. There is also surface rust around some of the hinges because Jeep did a very poor job of sealing their paint. The windshield frame may or may not be worth saving but a new one is less than $150 and it is one of the easiest sheet metal parts to change. The Jeep starts well and has exceptional power due to the good strong engine and transmission but the real work is being done in the differentials which have upgraded 3.73 gears! The front has a trutrac in it for better offroad capability while not affecting the Jeep when it is in 2wd. It will and does drive normal and tight. The cost to do the front differential would easily exceed $1500. All of these 6 cylinder Jeeps came with really poor performing gears that made the low horsepower 6 cylinder work extra hard. 3.73 gears are a perfect upgrade to the 4 speed and give the Jeep pep without over reving it. The Jeep has nice Laredo features like: Tilt steering column Working clock Working tach Intermittent wipers Original chrome grill with the pinstripe Original chrome front bumper Original chrome rear bumperettes Original center console and original front carpet Power steering Power brakes All 3 seats are brand new and just installed! I almost forgot to mention the frame of this Jeep still has the original black paint on it and has ZERO ZERO rot issues as the pictures try and show you along with how clean the metal is underneath the Jeep. I realize underneath photos of a Jeep aren't very flattering but if you know anything about CJs, you have to look underneath to tell a good Jeep CJ from a bad one. Most CJs after this long have been melted into pop cans and the rest of what is left are truly patched up junk and this one is not. It is a survivor and will last if you keep it out of the salt and take care of it. This makes a Jeep CJ a good investment as opposed to a rotted one or a new one. These are now 25+ year old classics. It is no longer JUST and old Jeep. Many CJs have rusted frames with holes in them and pathcing done or needing done just to hold the springs and body in place. That is how bad many of these Jeeps have rusted and how rare it is to find one this many years later in this good of condition. Simple non-critical needs include a dash pad (or remove it as many Jeeps didn't come with one...a new quality Jeep one costs less than $200). The fender flares are dry (new ones cost less than $70) Fuel and temp guages not operating but it does have a new fuel tank and sender and the guages test well. As stated above, I would Rhino or Linex it to preserve the floors at a cost of about $500 if you remove the seats, belts, console and roll bar yourself. This is a nice solid unrestored Laredo on a budget to enjoy and or build. With the gears in it, it is also a start to a trail rider without all the rust and rot most have More info and pictures about this Jeep on www.rudys-cjs.com. I will assist your shipper or I have connections to help you get it shipped or you can fly in and drive it home. Why buy from me? Any individual can sell one Jeep as there is little to no repercussions to a misrepresentation whether it is intentional misleading or misleading due to ignorance that costs the buyer money. I specialize in 76 to 86 Jeep CJ and have for a very long time. I know the good ones from the bad ones and the great ones from the ordinary. This is all I do and while I don't know everything, I know more than most and my reputation is my calling card. I know what I am looking at and want to sell each one in such a way to make you want to send someone else to me to buy one. I will stand behind this Jeep as being as advertised. Please read my referrals on www.rudys-cjs.com. I would like a REFUNDABLE $500 deposit (it is refundable if the Jeep is not as advertised) immediatly after the purchase and the rest in secure funds to be verified by my bank (Chase Manhattan) before releasing the Jeep or title.
