Vehicle Detail
This car belongs to my Mom. She just bought a new Chevy Aveo because she just gave up on the Hyundai. The car is located outside Minocqua, WI in the sticks and my folks say it must go! It is in need of help - For the last 6 months or so the car would sometimes NOT start - not often BUT often enough. You could wait awhile and it would start OR sometimes it would take a couple of days. The outdoor temperature made no difference. Finally, it just wouldn't start and my Dad put it on a tow dolly and towed it to our mechanic. When he went to check it out - IT STARTED. He couldn't find anything wrong with it. Then it ran just fine for about 3 or 4 weeks. BANG - it started the crap all over again. Once again Dad borrowed the tow dolly and took it to the same mechanic. SAME RESULT! The damn thing started up again. We had the fuel pump and gas filter replaced - and once again it ran fine for about a 1000 miles. A couple of days later it wouldn't start while sitting at home. When it starts - it starts up immediately and runs absolutely fine until you turn it off. A week or so later my Dad went out and started the thing. He moved it to where it sits now. The prevailing opinion is that there is something wrong with the computer. I just found a used engine computer box locally for $35.00 and suggested they try that. My folks no longer care. I want to be as accurate as possible in describing this vehicle because I don't want there to be any surprises for either the buyer or my Dad when it comes time to pick up the vehicle. My Mom got it when there was 10,000 miles on it so it is a second owner car. Oil was changed every 3000 or 4000 miles. Regular maintenance was pulled on the rest of the car. There is some rust in places and I have given pics of all of them. Also, a few minor scratches and paint loss - I also gave pics of those. It doesn't use much, if any, oil. My Mother CLAIMS to have gotten 38 miles per gallon driving on the freeway but gets most 35 mpg with country and small town driving. The car got a junkyard transmission (with 65000 miles on it, a year ago) and it works just fine. It SHOULD start BUT I can't guarantee it. If my folks think of anything else - I will revise this description. Thank you for looking. Just remembered - the tread on all 4 tires is at least 50% - probably closer to 60%.
