Vehicle Detail
Low miles on this lemon, bought it 2 years ago for $3500 and got to drive it about 3 months total in that time. I was given a recall by the original owner for a sludge in the oil issue which none of our local VW dealers will not honor. What it does is the check engine light will come on and then about 150 miles later the oil light will come on. You check the oil and it is fine. About 100 miles later it will not start. Let it stand for a couple months-reset the computer and presto it runs great for about another 150 miles or so, then the same problem excactly. Went to an online forum and many are having the same issue. But I did learn how to reset the computer for free. I drained the oil the last time and ran $45 worth of anti sludge cleaner though it , reset the computer and magic, it ran fine for about 150 miles again and then about an hour from home it quit for the last time and after a $105 tow I am done. Maybe a real VW mechanic can figure this thing out but not me. I am going back my 90s Dodges and the like. There is some damage on the passenger side front from a winter ice related mishap. The ABS light has been on since I owned it, with no problems. Replaced many front drive and suspension parts-sway arms, half shaft, rotors. If it sits too long the rotors seize up from the semi-metalic pads they give you and I am sure they are stuck, but nothing a little PB blaster wont cure. Many like new and new parts on this and I am selling it for parts or repair only. Tires are 75%, most everything works, sunroof, door locks, windows, auto or shift trans, trunk-ect. The front hood will not stay and needs to be propped. I will not put one more cent into this car and I hope it gets canibalized at the boneyard and then shredded, which if I do not get any takers, is where I will take it. Pick up on a trailer or roll back as unless you are a magicman in Delaware Ohio at my parents house, clear title for cash.
