Here is an opportunity to purchase a classic chrome bumper 1972 MGB. I have owned the car for about 20 years and only drive it during the summer months, the rest of the year it is covered and garaged. I will do my best to describe the good and not so good on the car, but please remember it is a used car which is 39 years old and is sold as is, where is and without any warranty. When I purchased the car the previous owner had by-passed the heater core and as I only drive during warm weather I never did anything to reconnect the heater. There is a cheap radio in the car which is, well cheap. The car starts right up and runs like a top, clutch and gearbox work great, gear changes are smooth, the previous owner lost the key and converted the ignition switch to a push button start but also added a fuel pump cut off switch as an added feature. Some of the things I have done to the car recently are, replaced the brake master cylinder, rebuilt the rear drum brakes, replaced the terrible rear lever arm shocks with conventional shock absorber set up, new tie rods and boots. I had the rear seal replaced. New starter motor. Installed new door cards and door caps, replaced the huge steering wheel and a much more useable 14” leather and chrome steering wheel. Air horns have replaced the original horns although the original horns are still on the car and could be reconnected if you want. A lot of the window and door seals have been replaced; all of the side chrome has been replaced. I would estimate the tires have about 90% tread left. The seats have genuine sheep skin covers, I imagine the vinyl seats are not very pretty underneath, however the seat cushions have new webbing and give good support, there are new lap belts in the car. The British Racing Green paintwork is in overall good shape although it is showing a little age with a little crazing on the hood and there is a rust spot on the off side rear wheel arch, there is some surface rust on the rear deck where the back of the top and or tonneau cover rests. The car comes with a tonneau cover which is the best way to drive the car alone, plus it keeps the inside shaded when you are away from the car without the need to put the top up. The top is in quite good shape with the exception of a small split in the rear window, the rear window is clear and not cloudy. I never replaced the top as I rarely drive it with the top up. I will however include a brand new top for the new owner, new tops cost $289.00 from Victoria British. Parts supply for the car is excellent with almost anything you want available from several different suppliers here in the USA. Remember this is the chrome bumpered MGB, which are much more desirable than the rubber bumpered cars which came out in 1974. This is a fun car to drive and always gets plenty of attention and although it is not in showroom condition it runs and drives great. I have been using the MG as my daily driver the last couple of weeks and even when the temperature was in the 90s F (and even hit a 100 F) last week, the car ran great.
