1954 bentley R type, pretty much the same as the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn of the same year. literally the minute i got this car home a car i have wanted to buy for the last 2 years finally came up for sale and its a must have for me so this lovely old lady has to find a new home. she was restored about 16 years ago and still has a TON of curb appeal, people love it and give the thumbs up and wave everywhere you go. the paint is terrific for being 16 years old and the seats look like they have not been sat it. after it was painted and the interior redone back in the day the old girl hardly got used, just trips to car shows and putting around town, that kind of thing. she runs just GREAT and the transmission shifts smooth, the brakes work really well and employ a booster under the drivers seat by the transmission. there are two levers to turn to 'ON' and then a starter button that you push to get her to crank and then just drop her into 4th gear and off you go. a key locks the two levers in the 'OFF' position but has nothing to do with cranking the car engine. so apart from the starting procedure there is nothing really antique about driving the old girl, except a lack of power steering that is. but the steering is nice and she is only a bit of a handful at parking speeds. new dual exhaust fitted and brand new battery put in today. all new door gaskets fitted when she was painted and they are still as new along with the window felts. the bumpers were also re chromed and still look great as you can see. pretty much everything works on the car including the crazy 'trafficators' that pop out between the doors and blink on and off as you are making a turn, people get the biggest kick out of those!! she has a full bench seat which is VERY rare in an R type. there will be some re varnishing needed on the wood trim but nothing earth shattering, very straight forward stuff. shipping oversea`s is no problem at all but i insist on payment in full within 7 days of auction by wire transfer or cash in person, with $200 deposit via paypal at the end of the auction. if you can`t abide by those simple rules then do not bid. depending on where you are located i can get her transported to you VERY cheaply so just email or phone for a quote. this car is VERY VERY solid so come check it out and if you have questions call my cell on 864 356 3343 but please no calls after 10 PM eastern standard time. any inspection is welcome. good luck y`all.
