Vehicle Detail

You are viewing what is probably one of the nicest remaining examples of a 1991 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor you will find. This was the final year for the 5.8 Liter (351 cubic-inch) High-Output V8. To make it even better, this was an always unmarked, loaded, original California Highway Patrol unmarked administrative vehicle...a very nice example of a very rare, hard to find car in a very rare and very desirable color. Let me start by saying, in all of my years of buying and selling police vehicles, I have only owned a handful of these cars. Aside from being a Police Interceptor, this unit was ordered with the largest engine available in it's final year of production, most of these you will see are equipped with the smaller 5.0 Liter (302 cubic-inch) V8. The engine runs as new and the transmission shifts excellent with no known problems whatsoever. It is very tight, and very strong. The brakes feel like new and there are no abnormal shakes, rattles, pulling or anything of that nature. It drives very smoothly and tightly. The heavy-duty police suspension makes this car handle like it is on rails. If you have been searching for one of these, don't pass this one up as I doubt you will find another that is any nicer. This car was factory ordered brand-new by the California Highway Patrol and has spent it's entire life in California until arriving here a couple of weeks ago. It is absolutely 100% rust and corrosion free. It is spotlessly clean underneath and the engine compartment is unbelievable. I purchased this car in California, and the mileage was stated to be "exempt" due to the age. I am assuming the mileage is actually over, and the Carfax report shows it to be (I can assume that the California Highway Patrol put 100,000-plus miles on it before selling it). It will be sold as "exempt", which is how I bought it. The odometer was non-functional (as most of this era Crown Victorias are, unfortunately) but I can assume it hasn't turned over more than once due to the overall nice condition of the car. I have driven this car approximately 200 miles over the past couple of weeks and it actually gets phenomenal fuel mileage for such a large car with such a monstrous motor...I averaged approximately 20-22 miles per gallon on the highway. In overdrive, this car sails at 80-85 mph effortlessly due to the high rear axle ratio. It is sort of like piloting a Lear Jet...smooth and fast. In my years of buying and selling police vehicles, I have had very few of these cars. I have seen even fewer that come close to the condition of this one. It was well maintained and needed no mechanical repairs aside from the air conditioning. I had the entire system redone, including new lines and evaporator, and it is now functioning perfectly and is ice-cold. It was fully converted to R-134A refrigerant and it was done correctly and professionally at a cost of nearly $900.00. The only negatives that I can think of that may want to be addressed are the heater core, which has been bypassed and I can assume may need replaced, the fuel gauge is inoperable, and there is a minor exhaust leak somewhere underneath, I am assuming in the area of the h-pipe flange seal. It is not anywhere close to the motor, so it is a very minor fix. The exhaust system is stainless on these cars, I believe, so there should be no reason to have to replace any of that. Again, very minor but worth mentioning. This is one of the nicest older police package cars I have had the pleasure of offering for sale in a long time. It is finished in Dark Titanium Metallic with gray interior and has a ton of options, including; cruise control, power windows (which ALL work as they should) cloth front split bench seating (with power driver's seat) and cloth rear seats, full factory carpeting and factory AM/FM stereo. It has been well-maintained and it runs and drives great. The headliner and sail panels will need recovered soon as they are showing their age, normal for a car of this vintage. Otherwise, the interior is really pretty nice. The body is straight, rust-free, very clean and the paint is pretty nice as well. Crown Victorias like this one are becoming increasingly harder to find, so here's your opportunity if you've been looking for a nice one in a VERY rare and desirable color combination. This unit is very nice inside and out and is clean under the hood as well...the engine compartment is SPOTLESS (please see the pictures). These are the Crown Victorias afficianados lust after, and this is an unmolested example. It is very responsive, smooth-shifting and, of course, very fast. This is a factory, all Dark Titanium Metallic car, not a color change like you will often see on used police vehicles. This was always an unmarked administrative car, and it was never equipped with a lightbar, spotlight or any other external equipment. It is equipped with (and I know I am repeating myself on some of these items that I mentioned previously); power driver's seat, cruise control, velour cloth seating front and rear, power windows, power mirrors, air-conditioning, Ford factory AM/FM stereo, tilt wheel, power trunk release and, of course, the full "Police Interceptor" package which includes the 5.8-Liter H.O. engine, 4-speed overdrive heavy-duty transmission, heavy-duty 8.8-inch rear axle, noise suppression bond straps, lateral bow (roof) reinforcement, 15" Uniroyal Tiger Paw police-spec, performance radials that are mounted on the factory, heavy-duty, 15" X 7" police wheels with full, factory chrome wheel covers, stainless-steel dual exhaust with factory crossover (H) pipe, special police-spec heavy-duty frame, heavy-duty front disc brakes, police suspension, certified 140-mph speedometer and much more. This unit is in excellent overall condition, has been very well-maintained and has little of the normal wear and tear you would expect to find on a used police vehicle of this age. This vehicle, as most used police vehicles do, will have imperfections...this typically includes; scratches, chips, nicks, dings (any major damage will be noted in the description such as large dents, etc.)...that being said, this car has no known mechanical defects and it runs and drives very nicely. Please, keep in mind, we strive to find the nicest used police vehicles possible, but they are still used police vehicles. This is a very nice driving, tight car...not a beat-up city car. DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP, 1991 MODELS ARE VERY, VERY HARD TO FIND AND I DOUBT YOU WILL SEE ANOTHER FOR SALE IN THE NEAR FUTURE IN THIS CONDITION, IF AT ALL, AT NO RESERVE. As with all of our auctions, this is a no reserve sale. This 1991 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor will sell to the high bidder at the end of the auction, please complete all inspections BEFORE bidding...if you win the auction, you own the vehicle. Because of increasing expenses in every regard, we have been forced to raise our fees by $50, this is the first time in ten years that we have done this, so hopefully you will understand. There will be a $175 documentation fee and a $15 title fee added to each sale, these will be the ONLY additional fees you will be responsible for, unless you reside in the state of Ohio, in which case you will need to pay the proper amount of sales tax, based on the current rate for the county in which you reside. Temporary 30-day plate and registration is also available for $18.50. We do not charge any additional fees and there are no hidden charges. Most sellers are charging double this amount currently. I welcome any and all questions you might have prior to bidding on this Crown Victoria. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally prior to the end of auction (please call if you like). I am a law-enforcement officer as well and as such, work long hours so you are free to call me as late in the evening as you like. I can be reached anytime at (614) 893-3857. I will take calls 24/7 up until the end of the auction. Winning bidder agrees to forward a 25% partial payment (unless a lesser amount is agreed upon PRIOR to the end of the auction) at end of auction via direct bank wire transfer or by overnighted cashier's check, money order or certified funds. Balance will be due within seven days of end of auction or at time of pick up or delivery, whichever comes first. I will help in any way possible to arrange transportation. I can store the vehicle for up to 90 days, until pick up can be arranged, as long as it's paid for in full. I may be able to deliver this vehicle personally, depending on your location, at a reduced rate. I have been buying, selling and driving unique, specialty vehicles for over ten years now and take pride in offering only low-mileage vehicles that are not "run of the mill", beat-up cars and trucks. I specialize in the hard to obtain cars, SUV's and trucks, Dodge 5.9 Cummins and Ford 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel trucks, Chevrolet Impala and Caprice 9C1 and 9C3 police vehicles, collectible and rare cars, trucks and vans. If there are any questions at all, again, please don't hesitate to call me at (614) 893-3857. I will answer all e-mails as quickly as possible. Thanks and good luck! Because of people who bid and do not contact me or pay, I am being forced to implicate a rule pertaining to low-feedback bidders. ANY BIDDER WHO BIDS, WITH A FEEDBACK OF 5 OR LESS, WILL HAVE THEIR BID RETRACTED IMMEDIATELY unless they contact me first, prior to bidding. I hope everyone understands, and I thank our hundreds of happy customers, but a few bad apples have spoiled the proverbial bunch. Thanks for understanding. Please remember, this is a used government vehicle, and not new, although it is probably in better condition than most you will see. As such, it will have minor flaws consistent with the miles and age of the vehicle, and with government use. That being said, it is in extremely nice shape and runs & looks as close to new as you will find. It is not what you would typically expect, or what you will find elsewhere for sale. Please, if you want to come and look at it, do so BEFORE bidding...or call me, as always, at 614-893-3857 or e-mail me and I will answer any questions you may have. Thanks!
