Vehicle Detail
1979 Jeep CJ5 Silver Anniversary This is one of the silver anniversary jeeps that was only made in 1979. As far as I know there were less than 1000 of these made and very few of them are still around. The tag on the firewall of the engine compartment has the VIN attached to the title (listed above) and the silver anniversary paint code 8C 1CS CC. Motor: AMC (Chrysler) 360 8 cylinderMileage: UnknownDashboard: Tachometer, oil pressure, vacuum, temperature, voltmeter, blinker indicators, hi-beam indicator are all operational. Speedometer, gas gage, odometer are not operational. They use to work but quit about 3 years ago. Windshield wipers work some of the time.Tires and rims: 35/16 TSL Boggers. Two are in very good condition, two have a lot of wear on them. Weld racing rims.Lights: Low and high beams, brake lights and turn signals all work. One headlight is loose in the bezel.Axles: I believe they are Dana 40s or 44s, not sure which. I was told by the previous owner that they both had some sort of locking/limited slip in them. I'll be happy to verify for anyone that can tell me specifics on how to tell.Transmission/Transfer case: All gears work. Sometimes it's a little funny about going into 1st but it is very smooth if you put it into 2nd before shifting into 1st.Steering: Newer brackets for the power steering gear box, as well as a new steering shaft with u-joints at each end. The steering is still pretty loose.Exhaust: Fenderwell headers into side pipes that exit under the doors. Small leak in driver's side exhaust manifold.Aftermarket items under the hood: Edelbrock carburetor with large air cleaner assembly, Mallory distributerBody: Has some rust. The passenger and driver side foot areas have some rust but aren't rusted through at all. The only spots that I have seen that are rusted through are a small hole behind the back seat and in between the driver seat and the door. There are some other small areas with rust as you can see in the pictures. Lift: As far as I can tell it's got about a 2 in body lift and 3-4in suspension lift. The passenger rear end of the jeep sits a little lower than the driver side - I think the leaf springs have relaxed a little on that side. Reason for selling: My horse got hurt and I need the money to pay back my loan for his surgery. Most of the things that I mentioned above that don't work are pretty minor - I just don't have any spare time to fix anything. Other than that, It's really fun to drive and sounds like a muscle car. Guaranteed to make heads turn and most everyone jealous. Shipping: I am willing to deliver it up to 100 miles from 39759 (Starkville, MS) as long as the buyer pays in advance for the gas I'll use to haul it. Other than meeting me within a 100 mile radius, the buyer is completely and totally responsible for all arrangements and fees for shipping/pickup. This jeep is also listed locally and on other websites. I reserve the right to remove this jeep from auction at any time and sell it elsewhere. The title is clear and I am the only name on it. I accept PayPal. I will do my best to answer any and all questions. Also, for the seriously interested folks, if you would like a picture of anything in particular that I didn't include, let me know and I'll take one and send it.
