Vehicle Detail

For sale here is a very rare 2004 BMW Edition 80 (80th Anniversary) Model. Unlike many of the hyperbolic ads you read on E-Bay, this really is a rare motorcycle. Only 2003 Jahre 80's were built, mine is No. 1001, verified by a small stainless steel laser etched build plate on the steering head. Only 200 of the 2003 were imported to the U.S. If you like the BMW R-Series, and like something unique; this is your bike. These motorcycles are super comfortable, and allow you to cover many miles in a day with very little fatigue compared to anything else. I rode the bike home to Michigan back from Oakland, CA when I bought it; and did over 1,000 miles on my last day. This model is basically an R1150R Rockster with all of the optional equipment offered on a Rockster, including ABS, Accessory 12V supply port, and heated grips; but the Anniversary models go painted in a special more mature commemorative color scheme. 2004 is a great year for these bikes because 2003 brought the twin plug heads, 2004 the 6 speed transmission, and 2005 the electronics that made it impossible to work on yourself any more. If you like the R-1150, 04's are the ones to have. The bike currently has 4820 miles on the odometer as you will see in the photos. I will be using/enjoying it some during sale, so expect to be less than 5,500. It is completely stock except for one modification, which is that I put the normal R1150R handlebars on it. I found that the Rockster bars spread my arms too wide and the wind blast was fatiguing doing longer distance. The bike is in perfect mechanical condition, and has already had it's 600 mile service performed. The only negative is some minor scratches on the LH upper headlamp mount, lower triple clamp, and RH Valve cover. I am the second owner. The original owner defaulted on the loan and the bike was re-po'd with only 462 miles on it. I think that the repo guys were careless when they tied the bike down, as the places these scratches occur look to me like they are from careless tie-down placement, and a tip over. The bike has never been down. This is minor cosmetic stuff. I have not touched it up, as they were all trivial enough that I preferred the scratches over a potentially poor color match. There are detailed photos of the areas I'm talking about. The entirety of the rest of the bike is perfection. I also have some used accessories and spare parts for sale separately in my other E-Bay listings; including bag system mounts, bags, a spare gas tank, and a spare front wheel. I bought this stuff used off E-Bay, because I was going to do a custom paint job, and outfit it for touring. Ultimately, I decided it was too unique and beautiful to customize and decided to leave it perfectly stock. these other parts are used, and not in perfect condition; but let me know if you're interested in any, and we can negotiate them separately. they are NOT included in this sale. The bike is for sale locally, so auction may end early. Shipping costs are NOT included in your bid. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I am willing to help with arrangements, getting quotes, Detroit Metro airport pickup, delivering to nearby shipping depot, etc, within reason. I will not be responsible for crating and/or shipping, however, and you must pay for shipping arrangements before bike will be delivered. Please e-mail me regarding your desires in advance.
