Vehicle Detail

1970 Plymouth 'CudaOriginal California Car First off, please excuse the black dot and blurred spot on my pictures, I had something on my lens when I took these pictures. Now...... Up for sale is a 1970 Plymouth Cuda that I have listed for a friend. This car was built at the Los Angeles, CA plant. The car was originally a 383 2bbl automatic Barracuda but has sense been built into a 440 'Cuda. With the help of a few other local Mopar guys, the owner restored this car to what you see today. The restoration was completed in 1999, but looking at the car, you wouldn't know it. This car was featured in the April 2004 issue of Mopar Muscle Magazine. You can read the article on Mopar Muscle's webpage at http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/mopp_0404_1970_plymouth_barracuda/index.html This car runs, drives, and sounds great! The 440 sounds great and performs well. The automatic 727 transmission shifts nice and firm with no slipping. The car has power discs in the front and drums in the rear. This car would be a nice addition to any collection. This car gets a lot of attention at every car show and local cruise-in. The owner hates to part with the car but has decided that it is time to pass it on to someone else. BODY: The paint and body are beautiful on this car! You would never believe the body work and paint were done well over 10 years ago! All of the body panels line up nice and close very smooth. When this car was built the fenders, hood, and deckled were dipped and coated. The front and rear valances were purchased new and is the only aftermarket sheet metal that bolts onto the car. Everything else is 40 year old OEM metal. A new trunk pan was also installed. What wasn't dipped and coated and stripped and treat to a coat of POR-15 before being painted. FRAME: All of the frame rails are original and very solid. The rails, as well as the belly of the car was coated with POR-15. INTERIOR: The original seats were reupholstered with Legendary material and stuffed with new seat foam from Legendary. The carpet was also replaced with Legendary products. Surprisingly, the headliner is still the original material that was installed on the LA assembly line. The door panels are original and look nice. The original console looks nice and the transmission is shifted with an aftermarket shifter with a reverse shift pattern. This car was originally equipped with factory A/C but is no longer functional. All of the original tinted glass looks nice and functions like it should. The dash pad is original and only has a couple very very small cracks around the speaker grille which can be seen in the photos. This is very hard to notice. The dash has a 120 mph speedometer along with an aftermarket tach, water, and oil gauges. The radio is an aftermarket cd player. TRIM: The grille on this car is VERY VERY nice and is an original grille. All of the trim was removed, cleaned up and re-installed on the car. The front and rear bumpers are not aftermarket pieces. They are original OEM bumpers that were rechromed and they look beautiful. DRIVETRAIN: The orignal 383 2bbl engine is long gone and was replaced with a much preferred 440. The block has a 1970 date code and came out of a low mileage car when pulled. When the engine was built for the Cuda, the standard bore cylinder walls look so good and the rotating assembly was in such good shape that it was left alone. The top side of the engine had a makeover though. The 906 heads were cleaned up with mild porting and gasket matching as well as a three-angle valve job and Mopar Performance valve springs. The rockers and shafts are OEM parts. The camshaft is a Mopar Performance Purple Shaft with .484 lift and .284 duration. The intake is an Edelbrock Performer RPM with a 750 Holley mounted on top. The Super Comp Hooker Headers were sent off and ceramic coated. The ignition system has been upgraded with a Mopar Performance electronic distributor and a chrome ECU box. The engine is kept cool with dual Be Cool electric fans. This engine is very tight and performs well. Since the motor was built in '99 it hasn't even had the valve covers removed for repairs or adjustments... it has been that good! The 727 automatic transmission was rebuilt with a Cheetah reverse pattern manual valve body, B&M clutches, and a 3500 stall converter. The transmission fluid is kept cool with a B&M cooler up front. The transmission shifts firm and will perform well. The 8 3/4 rear end has a 489 casing with 3.23 gears in a Sure Grip chunk. The rear end also has a Mopar Performance adjustable pinion snubber to keep the rear end planted on the ground. EXHAUST: The Super Comp Hooker Headers, Flowtech Turbo mufflers. WHEELS & TIRES: The car has an OEM set of 15x7 Rally Road wheels. The tires are BF Goodrich 255/60/15 in the rear and 235/60/15 up front. The fender tag and build sheet were missing from the car when the owner purchased this car back in the '90s. This car DOES have a clear Mississippi title.
