Vehicle Detail

1974 PINTO WAGON 97K MILES I'm selling my very clean, reliable, economical Pinto Wagon. For features, it has: 2.3 LIMA 4-cylinder engine, with later-model 2.3 "roller" cylinder head C-4 automatic transmission Factory A/C (needs compressor, bracket, suction hose, and condenser) Luxury Interior decor group AM Radio (needs new speaker) Rear air deflector Bumper Guards Dual remote control sport mirrors Additionally, it has: New NOS Ford Service Parts lower control arms, ball joints, bushings, and tie-rod ends New HD 3-row radiator with correct FOMOCO tanks New NOS Goodyear Intrepid radials up front, newer Kelly radials back New NOS organic brake pads NEW NOS Timken outer/Bower inner wheel bearings Transmission service with new fluid and band adjustment Differential service with new fluid Rebuilt distributor New steering rack Recent repaint to correct Medium Yellow Gold New NOS wiper blades with correct stainless arms Newer fitted carpet, dash cover, and seat bolster inserts Original exhaust system, no leaks Complete original Ford Technical Service Manual Set (full-line Ford 1974) Box full of small spare parts The little car is very nice and drives great. I've never had a minutes trouble from it, but it is 37 years old and is not perfect. The repaint is nice, shines great, and looks good, but is not concours quality. At one point in it's life, it had a minor impact in the lower-left front that required the bumper support to be replaced. However, I cannot find any evidence of bondo or sheet-metal damage. It's like it hit a curb and the impact was limited to the bumper support where it bolts to the sub-frame. The right-rear wheel lip moulding was banged-up so it's been removed. Again, there doesn't seem to be any body damage. The right hood hinge has been replaced at one point in it's life. I took the taillight housings out of both sides and even with a spotlight the inner rear quarters are amazingly clean...no dents, rust bondo, or hidden damage. The spare tire well is as clean as the day it left the plant...the build plate is under the insulation, as well as misc fastenters that the assembly-line workers threw-in, then sprayed mastic over! The factory grease-pencil marks are pictured as well. This is an excellent Pinto that deserves a good home. The only other modification I would do is a Pertronix electronic ignition upgrade so you don't have to diddle with breaker points (last year equppied was 1974) This is my third attempt to sell the Pinto. So it has a buy it now with a provision of immediate payment. The reserve is essentially the buy it now price. On May-30-11 at 15:54:02 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a few questions... The car is in Poway. It has new NOS Monroe-Matic hydraulic shocks in the rear, with Monroe Response shocks up-front. The rear shoes are original and are about 5/32". I do have a box of spares that will go with the car, including another instrument cluster, armrest, emblem, turn signal switch, and other misc NOS parts. It has manual steering and brakes, which were all that was available for the 74 Pinto (even the wagon). 65 mph is the average cruising speed for the car, but 75-80 is doable but the little engine sreams at that point. 55 is where you get the best gas mileage. Yes, it is a "W" code C-4 transmission. The u-joints have been replaced in the recent past, and are greasable, along with the rest of the front-end. It has the original Weber staged 2bbl carb with automatic choke and CA emissions. The seatbelt interlock has been bypassed but the hardware is intact. It has integrated shoulder belts with intact udjusters. The HVAC controls all work, as does the blend/directional vacuum actuators. The coolant pump, thermostat, and radiator cap were replaced with the radiator. I run Mobile 1 10W/40 oil with an FL1-A filter, and it does not smoke or burn oil. It has the 6.5" rear axle, semi-floater.
