Vehicle Detail
CLASSIC 1973 HONDA CT90Up for auction is my personal Honda that I have owned for a few years. I decided to sell it as we really need an ATV or UTV for working on the ranch. Comes with original Honda key, receipts, title & original owners manual. I was contacted by a fellow ebayer about the VIN number & title year of the bike, something we were unaware of & wanted it to be known: "The VIN 4xxxxx indicates this is a '71 K3 model CT90. I have two of these and two '70 K2's as well. The title might say '73 as sometimes these bikes sat in dealer showrooms and the year of the actual sale was used on the paperwork as opposed to the year of manufacture. Not a big deal, I just wanted to let you know. Good luck with your sale." PLEASE let the 40 detailed photos load below! Description follows, please read & ask questions - it is long-winded but a good complete & detailed description, no surprises here.... We picked up this Honda in 2009 as part of a package deal when we purchased our Nissan Pickup in Jacksonville FL. The bike was partially disassembled, ready for the many brand new OEM Honda parts to be installed. The previous owner had every intention of rebuilding the bike to haul on his RV, bought everything he needed & never completed it. He decided to give it to us as he would rather see it fixed & being used than parked in his garage taking up precious space. We took it home, contacted a well-known motorcycle shop & took all the parts & bike to him & a month later we had a nice complete & good running bike. We were living in Florida at the time but had just bought our property in New Mexico so we didn't get it registered. When arriving in NM we realized that there was no need to register it here as there are miles & miles of dirt roads & trails all around & no regulation whatsoever. Bike comes with the original free & clear NH title that was signed by the previous owner. That being said, this is a nice clean, low mileage unmolested bike as the photos show. Paint still has a very nice shine. Starts on 1st or 2nd kick, let it idle for a minute without needing the choke & ride! I ride this bike on a regular basis, always runs without trouble minus the throttle - see below. The dirt roads here are rough & it performs well. The battery was replaced & is strong, even when not starting it for a couple months it fires right up. High & low beam lights work, indicator lights on gauge work, horn works, brake & taillight works. No turn signals were included & rubber plugs are still in place. Not sure how many miles we have put on it since it was rebuilt & running again - not too many. Tires are in great condition, always hold air & look to be original type. Seat is comfortable & in great condition - may have been recovered at one time or another. This is an 8 speed setup which works great - HI & LOW range. Low range is a great feature for climbing steep hills which we have on the property & it just crawls up them, over rocks & all. Brakes work well. The only things it needs that we know of is: one of the fork seals has a leak, the plastic covering the frame was broken & repaired at one time with plastic weld (see photos) & I recently cleaned the carb & since then the throttle will stick occasionally. Probably a new cable is needed. There is typical wear from an almost 40 year old bike with 3K+ miles. Front fender is damaged (see photos - easy find on ebay). Since moving here it has not had the power it did at the 160 foot elevation of Florida, but being we are at about 8000 ft elevation & the air is thin a loss of performance is normal - motorcycle mechanic told me that was normal. We were going to replace the jet with one made for the elevation difference - never got around to it. The high altitude elevation adjustment on the carb did help some. All fixes are simple inexpensive repairs & parts are available on ebay. A great bike waiting for it's new owner to tool around on!
