Vehicle Detail

Honda Trail 70 - Frame serial # CT 70 258 957. Engine serial # CT 70E - 258657. Let me preface this listing by stating I don't know much about motorcycles, much less a Honda Trail 70. With that said, I will attempt to describe the bike to the best of my ability. From the preliminary research I did, it appears this is the "Original" Trail 70, made between 1969 - 1971. One website listed this decal, color scheme, folding handlebars, odometer in headlight, chrome exhaust style, etc.... as being from 1971, from what I gathered, however, I'm open to correction. This bike came from the vacation home in Northern Michigan, of an elderly couple, who are friends of mine. They used it to go to town, and to drive around the lake, and drive it on trails through the woods. They stated the miles were easy, and the bike was never abused. It has been unused in storage for several years in their garage. From a restoration viewpoint, this bike appears ideal, as the frame, seat, handlebars, and all the important parts, etc.... appear to be original and in pretty good overall condition. The bike has: 3392 miles as indicated on the odometer. As for what is wrong (again to the best of my ability) ; First of all, we don't have the ignition key, nor the title. There is a small hole in the side of the aluminum chain guard cover from a rock (see photos) . There is a slight bend on the rear wheel rim, where it meets the tire ( looks like it could easily be bent back into shape) (see photos). There is some duct tape around the headlight, but the lamp is intact. There is some minor surface scratches on the paint, and some surface wear on the chrome (should be able to polish most out). The battery is missing, and it looks someone cut some wires in the area as well ( see photos) A neighbor who is more knowledgeable about motorcycles came by for a few minutes, to check it out for us, but we could not quite get it to start........ although we didn't try real hard. We took out the filter, and cleaned the insides of some mouse nesting, before attempting to start, as instructed. We then added some fresh gasoline and gave it several kicks. He says it sounded close to almost starting, but wasn't sure if it needed the key, so he then tried to hot wire it, to no avail. As we didn't have a new spark plug, nor starting fluid, or even the key, we called it quits, although he assured us, it had good compression. The brakes, clutch, shocks, and gears all seam to be working good. The seat is in excellent condition, and the tires still have lots of tread. The rear tail light plastic lens is intact and without any cracks. If I'm missing anything, please email me with any other questions, or would like more photos, keeping in mind I'm limited to the technicality of the questions asked. Please let the photos, and your questions, be your ultimate guide in judging it's overall condition and value. Pick up is in the 48083 area code (Troy, Michigan). Could also deliver to the general area, for little more than the price of gas, or could also meet in between - depending. Shipping would be strictly up to the buyer. I would be glad to drop it off, at UPS or a motorcycle shop that may handle shipping for you. Sold as is - No Returns. Low Starting Price - No Reserve Auction - 100% Feedback Rating - Bid in Confidence.
