THE FACT IS WHEN IT COMES TO JAGUAR YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...BUY A BARGAIN YOU TAKE YOUR CHANCES MAYBE YOU DON'T GET BIT, BUY THIS JAGUAR AND SLEEP WELL MY FRIEND's The catlike grin of the XK8 grille is both apt and distinctive. TAKE JUST A SINGLE LOOK at the striking half-bullet shape of the XK8 and you could get the impression that it's as rigid on the road as a Formula One Race Car, AND AS STRIKING AS ANY DESIGN EVER TO EMERGE FROM EUROPE! EVEN WITH THE PURRING POWER OF 290 HORSEPOWER UNDER THE BONNET, AND THE QUICK TIGHT HANDLING OF A FINELY TUNED SUSPENSION, THE HEART OF THE XK8 IS ALL LUXURY. When you get behind the wheel, the XK8 becomes exceptionally comfortable. The Connolly leather seats are not too firm, and not too soft. There's enough head and shoulder room so you don't feel hemmed in. And since the greenhouse of the XK8 is essentially a stretched clam shell, the front and rear windshield are long, beaming lots of light into the cabin and reducing that cave-like sports car sensation. THE XK8 IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF A LUXURY SPORTS COUPE JAGUAR HAS EVER PRODUCED. AND JUST WHO AM I TO JUDGE? I AM A LUXURY CAR TECHNICIAN WHO HAS SPENT THE LAST THIRTY YEARS MAINTAINING EVERY TYPE OF HIGH-END SPORTS CAR AND COUPE FROM PORSCHE TO BENZ. I HAVE REPAIRED, RESTORED, AND REFURBISHED THE BEST EUROPEAN DESIGNS ON THE ROAD TODAY AND THIS 1999 JAGUAR XK8 IS MY PERSONAL DRIVER..... I PURCHASED THIS XK8 2.5 YEARS AGO. I HAVE AS AN ENTHUSIAST SET OUT TO CORRECT EACH AND EVERY FLAW KNOWN ON THIS CHASSIS. FROM TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS TO POWER STEERING HOSES. THIS XK8 HAS RECEIVED TOTAL AND COMPLETE UPDATES IN MY PROFESSIONAL HANDS.. WHAT HAS BEEN DONE: 1> The single most important question a buyer of an XK8 must ask is “HAVE THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS BEEN REPLACED AND UPDATED?” this is the single greatest weakness, and of course our XK8 has had the tensioner replaced with the factory OE updated timing chain tensioner from Jaguar. 2>Our XK8 has also been updates with the Jaguar engine coolant crossover pipe, it replaces the original Hose assembly that leaked and caused many engine failure’s. 3>The Jaguar recommended Power Steering High Pressure Hose Update has been done Providing our XK8 with the latest and best Jaguar OE re-enforced Power Steering Supply Hose. 4>The Jaguar Valve Cover Gaskets and Spark Plugs have been exchanged for UPDATED Iridium Spark Plugs and Composite Jaguar OE Valve Cover Gasket Set 5>The Original Transmission failed on this XK8 which brought it into my possession, I replaced the Transmission which is still under its warranty and will transfer to the new owner, I also replaced the Transmission mounts at the same time. 6>Our XK8 has received a COMPLETE Jaguar certified 80,000 mile service including Serpentine Belt, Battery,ALL Filters Fluid & Air, Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, and Synthetic Motor Oil..The XK8 is not due for another service until 90,000 miles and that is 10,000 miles of WORRY FREE driving for its NEW OWNER!! I WOULD SAY THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING ANY EUROPEAN LUXURY AUTOMOBILE IS, "HOW HAS THE VEHICLE BEEN MAINTAINED?". AND MY ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION IS THAT THIS XK8 HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UPDATED. UTILIZING ONLY JAGUAR PARTS AND SET TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS..THIS JAGUAR PERFORMS WITH MORE PRECISION AND RELIABILITY THAN ANY OTHER 1999 XK8 YOU'RE GOING TO FIND ON THIS OR ANY OTHER ROAD!! AND WHY WOULD I GO TO THE TROUBLE AND THE EXPENSE..BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CAR! ITS LINES, IT'S SMOOTH SUSPENSION, IT'S POWERFUL FEEL, BUT MOST OF ALL I LOVE MY FAMILY AND I WOULD NOT PUT THEM IN THIS XK8 UNLESS I WAS ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN IT WILL KEEP US SAFE, AND TAKE US ON ALL the ADVENTURES OUR HEARTS DESIRE!! THAT IS THE NATURE OF A PERFECTIONIST ENTHUSIAST, THAT IS WHO I AM AND I CAN SAY THIS IS THE BEST JAGUAR I HAVE EVER OWNED!! SO BEYOND MY GUSHING REVIEW OF THIS PURE DRIVING MASTERPIECE..WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? I CAN SAY THAT I HAVE INVESTED OVER $6000 IN THIS JAGUAR TO MAKE IT A FLAWLESS GEM..... The sleek convertible XK8 has a one-touch closing soft top. Then there's the cars silky suspension. Double wish-bones at the front and rear are mated to progressive springs, but the spring rates aren't so stiff that the car shudders over pot holes and expansion joints. Rather, the springs isolate and deaden bumps, and the precise, speed-sensitive steering also does its part to prevent vibration. You can still push the XK8 through corners and the springs respond in kind to the aggressive inputs, but the rest of the time the car is agile, not tense. The V-8 is just as flexibly calibrated. In sport mode, the five-speed automatic transmission suspends up-shifts a little longer, and the growl of the engine is clean and pleasing. And while maximum torque doesn't arrive until 4,250rpm, most of that driving force is available at lower revs, so you get plenty of boost for highway passing with very little engine effort. The cockpit of the Jaguar XK8 is cozy, not confining. Such refinements make the XK8 one of the most civilized cars on the road. A pleasure to drive for long miles, but also the kind of coupe that makes you want to dress up and hit the town. In other words, it's the definition of a luxury touring car!!
