My first car was a 1960 Bugeye. It was original with a 948cc motor and drum brakes front and rear. It was a great little car but under powered. Years later I purchased this car and after several years I decided to have a ground-up "professional" restoration done right down to the sheet metal body. Many components were replaces and upgraded. Although she is 53 years old she is practically a new car. The original frame is"monocoque" construction and is light weight and economical to produce but had a design flaw, it rusted. These areas were cut-out and replaced and rustproofed! All of the receipts and many pictures of the process come with the vehicle. This is not a "factory spec" restoration, this is a drivers car. 1275cc motor, disc brakes up front, mini-lite wheels and Dunlop tires. I've babied this car and have put on perhaps 200-300 miles since the restoration. Most of the time she has been in storage. She needs to be loved and driven. The car is simple enough to maintain yourself and tuning the SU's is easy. A factory service manual comes with the car along with a VHS tape on rebuilding and tuning the carbs.
