Vehicle Detail

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING This auction is for a 1997 Honda CR-V with 124K miles on it. IT IS CURRENTLY NOT RUNNING. I believe the timing belt has broken. I was driving it last week when the oil light came on and the engine shut off. I had it towed to my house and my mechanic said it was a timing belt. Previous to the timing belt failure the engine leaked a slight amount of oil, leaked, not burned, about 1/2 quart a week. I drove the car every day as my work vehicle, I sometimes put 100+ miles per day on a car. This was always a great car that I never had any problems out of. Everything on it works great, the A/C is ice cold, all electronics work perfectly. I have decided to not repair the car but to replace it with a Subaru, I miss my Subaru wagon. If push comes to shove, I'll repair it and sell it. I just don't have the time right now. Repaired the car should sell for at least $3,000.00. I have decided to sell it for what it's worth right now. If I repair it I was just going to buy a leak tested replacement engine with fewer miles off of eBay for $600 and put it in. That way the oil leak and the belt would be repaired at the same time. Figure $200 to remove and install the engine and you're back in business. The original window sticker is included. As for the car, the paint is in good condition with no fading and minimal wear and few chips, dings and scratches. The only rust is the typical CR-V spot over the rear wheel wells (see the pictures - passenger side is the worst), not through, just spotting. There are no rips, tears or stains in the upholstery. The glass is all in good condition, there is a small chip in the windshield that has been there since I bought it. The tires are marginal and will need replacing within the next few thousand miles. The brakes feel good and don't make any noise. The transmission shifts smooth. There is a pin hole in the exhaust somewhere, not loud, just not Honda quiet. Please feel free to call or email with any questions at all - 304-444-6907, john@hollowden.com. The vehicle is advertised locally as well, so I reserve the right to cancel bids and end the auction early if it sells locally. A nominal $100 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction close via Paypal. The remaining balance is to be paid at the time of pick up with a cashier check, certified funds or cash. No personal checks will be accepted. On Jun-16-11 at 13:52:14 PDT, seller added the following information:This is a 2 owner car. I purchased it from the dealer as a trade in in September 2010. Please have a look at the vehicle history report included in the listing. On Jun-17-11 at 11:14:54 PDT, seller added the following information:As I have had an overwhelming amount of telephone calls and emails I've decided to answer some questions here, within the listing. I have it listed as a possible timing belt failure. As we all know, if this has happened there is a strong possibility that several or all valves are bent as well as other internal engine damage. As I am not a mechanic, I do not know for certain that the timing belt is broken. What I do know is that the engine turns over but will not start and there is a grinding sound coming from the bottom of the engine. I was told over the phone it was more than likely a timing belt failure causing internal engine damage. That said, here is the 100% fact that I do know about the vehicle. YOU CAN NOT DRIVE IT IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN. THERE IS DEFINITE INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE THAT NEEDS REPAIRED. I DO NOT KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. THIS IS WHY I STATED THAT IF I KEPT AND REPAIRED I WOULD REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A LOWER MILEAGE LEAK TESTED ONE. ALSO, PLEASE READ ABOVE WHERE IT STATES THAT THE ENGINGE LEAKED, NOT BURNED, OIL. THIS PROBLEM WOULD STILL EXIST EVEN IF IT WAS A TIMING BELT FAILURE AND YOU REPLACED THE BELT. ANOTHER REASON I WAS GOING TO SIMPLY REPLACE THE ENGINE, KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL OR EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS, IT'S NO BOTHER AT ALL. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND BIDDING.
