Vehicle Detail

I have a 1977 Mercedes Benz 450SL Convertible for sale. The car currently runs and drives. I used a parts car and swapped out the engine. I started to swap out the interior, but have not finished it. The dashboard, carpet, back seats and panels, and the convertible top still need to be swapped. I selling it now because I started a new job and have no time to finish this project. The car was originally blue, with blue interior. It was recently painted grey (four months ago). The car's original odometer reads 116k miles. I am not certain if this is correct. The engine in the car has 101,000 miles on it, and it runs nicely. I, however, have not had it emissions tested yet. The transmission shifts strong when cold, but needs a fluid level and kickdown adjustment. The interior is black and is also taken from the parts car. The soft top appears to be in great condition, and the seats, dashboard, console, instrument panel, door panels, and mats are all in good condition. Again, as you can see by the photos, there is still some work to be done. I took pictures of all the interior parts before I installed them. The car currently has the seats installed, but the dashboard still needs to be swapped, along with many of the interior panels and trim. The car has some surface rust underneath the floor panels, but the quarter panels are in great shape, even behind the tires. There are two spots on the car that had more serious rust. This was due to plugged drain holes. The first spot The quarter panel is untouched, but the wheel well rusted through in one spot. I cut this rust out, as you can see from the photo. The frame was not affected. The second spot is underneath the gas cap door. It doesn't appear to have rusted through anywhere, but water was pooled inside this recessed area, so it did begin to rust. The body of the 450SL is very straight. There are very few dents or dings, however there is some minor rust. The first spot is in the engine compartment, on the passenger side, behind the headlight. The front of the front right wheel well did not drain properly (where it meets the frame) and the pooling created a rust spot, which has been cut out (see picture). This did not affect the frame or the exterior quarter panel, so it is not visible from the outside of the car. The other rust spot is underneath the gas cover. This also did not drain properly, however, the rust only appears to be surface rust and did not breach through. The painters sanded this prior to painting over it and it looks fine now, but it should be monitored. Niether of these spots is either structural, or visible. The air conditioning compressor is installed, but the system is not charged. I do not know whether it works, but am told that it was working when the original engine broke down. I also have a spare air conditioning compressor that was also working when it was in the parts car (this is the only part that I am willing to sell separately). Work that still needs to be completed: 1) The dash and some of the interior still need to be switched out; 2) the wheel well should be repaired where the rust was cut out; 2) the flywheel may have a few teeth ground down, occasionally the starter will grind when the engine is started (will come with an additional flywheel); 3) The air conditioning system is drained (I purchased R-28 refill for it, that will come with the car) it has not been tested; 4) the engine oil pressure line and temperature gauge need to be connected; 5) the convertible top must be swapped out (the old blue one is currently in the car); 6) the transmission needs to be adjusted; 7) shocks and struts should be replaced. There may be other issues, but these were the issues I was planning to take care of before I became too busy. Other than that, the car is in good shape. Again, the engine only has 101,000 miles on it (these engines supposedly run for much longer) and has been running well since it was installed. This is a great car for someone looking to finish up a restoration. Please email any additional questions.
