Vehicle Detail
I am re-listing this auction, due to mere hours after auction end, the winning bidder admitted that he could nary contain the excitement of winning an auction, but the idea of actually paying for the item was beyond any scope of his imagination. Therefore we begin, again. I am selling my 91' 325ic. I bought this car many years ago, to first fully, accurately restore, then to modify along lines of the performance of a newer M3. Well, many years have come and gone, and thanks to my wife and much time to come to my own conclusion, it will just never happen. This car is NOT in great condition. It runs and drives, and I personally would not be afraid to drive it. HOWEVER that doesn't mean that I endorse you doing that. I am not implying any warranty or any claim to anything regarding this cars performance or remaining lifespan. There is currently a similar car listed on ebay with a tan interior. I can tell you that based solely on the photos, my car is in better condition on the outside. However the same is not true for the interior. It has a blue leather seating interior that is in awful condition. Not every little trinket and piece is in this car, but every single major thing is there. I have only had my wife take exterior photos. I will determine serious prospective buyers and will attempt to cater to their needs for more information. But I need to assume that if you are going to consider this car to purchase, that you already are familiar with E30 BMW's. There is not much in the way of rust. There is a spot near one of the fenders a small spot (not illustrated). There is some significant surface rust in the trunk and some less significant surface rust in the rear floor pan. I won't have the ability to take photos probably that will help you to see the floor, you will have to take my word for it. I suppose. I also am including a load of parts, including basically everything needed to replace the timing belt, and I suggest you would make that your first project if you buy this car. The car has no radio or speakers, and I don't know what someone before me had going in that regard when I bought it. I had a simple stereo in it for awhile, but removed it long ago. The mileage on this car is approximately 175,000. I believe the odometer shows something like 157,000, but based on when it stopped working and what little it has been driven since then. The car also comes with 2 spare cylinder heads. One of them is bare, and has been checked for cracks and was cleaned and surfaced. The other has never been checked, but is a full complete head. Also, the tires on the rear have less than 300 miles on them, and I have 2 matching new tires, still with stickers and shipping bands, in the trunk of the car. They were not mounted, because the front end would need some alignment work, before you would want to put new tires on. Like I said, this car is fully drive-able right now, but it's not really enjoyable and I don't drive it and haven't in a while. But it starts, runs, stops, etc.... If you bring the means, you can drive it away. But,,,,,,,,, as I said, once you buy it, you are on your own. So I don't recommend you drive it, without changing the timing belt, and changing the oil. After that, you could drive it and begin doing with it whatever you want. Oh, also the battery is shot, so you'd need a battery. I personally value the car (to me) at around $750. But that's me and I'm trying to be realistic. I want to be honest and properly portray what you are getting. That is my full intent. It's time for this car to leave me and for someone with the time and inclination to take it and do with it what they want. I am starting this auction at $200 and it has no reserve. I reserve the right to reject any bid for any reason. However if you have no feedback or any negative feedback, you need not bother to bid. This auction is only for serious prospective buyers. And your bid is your contract. If you bid $40,000, you will be expected to pay me $40,000. So ask your questions, and if I have the time and ability to answer them to your satisfaction, I will. I don't want you to be dissatisfied, I'd rather you be pleasantly surprised when you get here to pick it up. Full payment will be expected to my Paypal account within 72 hours of auction end, no exceptions to that. I will hold the car for you to pick up, a maximum of 30 days, with the clock running at conclusion of the auction. I think I'm being fair and want you to get a bargain. But use your brain, read everything in this auction listing and ask questions as you need. Please, don't ask questions that are not relevant for a car with such a low expected sale price. It is a used car, in need of a lot of TLC and not suitable for your daughter to drive to college (as is). The car is being sold as is, where is. I have been asked a couple questions numerous times. Keep in mind, that this is a 20 year old car, not being sold as a daily driver. However the top does work, it is a manual top, not a motorized one. It is old, but the rear window is in decent condition. Yes it has Air Conditioning, but no it doesn't work. It needs either freon, or a conversion to R-134 for it to cool the car. With that said, let the auction begin. On Jun-05-11 at 15:51:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, I've come back and added a few more photos, and I will be back again today to add more. I took photos of the parts associated with the timing belt change, which includes a belt and tension pulley in one box, 3 new accessory belts, a new water pump and some assorted gaskets and things. Then there are photos of the 2 new tires that aren't mounted yet. Also a few photos of the 2 extra cylinder heads, including one valve cover. There is also a small little piece that I bought awhile back, that is a retrofit piece from the factory, intended to stop the drip-drip oil leak that comes from around where the oil filter mounts. Was about a $10 part as I recall, I just never installed it. Also a spare transmission filter kit. A few years ago, I replaced the original one, and put Redline Synthetic transmission fluid in. Bought 2 filters at the same time. Hardly no one is asking me questions about this car. I will address the top more when I return with the other photos. Like I said, I hate to see someone ask a question that isn't relative to a 20 year old car that has seen a lot of days and isn't being advertised as nice or whatever. But still, if you are gonna part with your money, you should know some about it, before the auction end. I will do my best to answer you. Oh and as you all see, one ebay'er didn't read the rules. It always happens, it seems. Okay, back later. On Jun-05-11 at 17:26:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, I'm back. I took more photos and noticed a few things that I didn't mention earlier, however as I told you, it is not in "great" condition. I took a couple photos in the trunk. I also noticed that there is a small hole forming to the left of the spare tire well in one of the rusty areas. It is about 1/4" in diameter. I didn't mess with it. There are minor scratches in the trunk lid, took a photo of that. took a couple of photos around the drivers side rear fender. Also a spot on the hood near the roundel that is roughly the size of a silver dollar (rusty). I'm running out of things I can think of to tell you about it. When I bought it, I put a somewhat cheap Pioneer stereo in it, since it didn't have one. After a couple years, 3 of the 4 speakers weren't sounding too good, and the foam around them was shot. So I just removed them and never replaced them. Then finally removed stereo. The car really looked nice when I bought it, although there was just all the issues regarding the stereo. I can't recall what was said about it, but I'm guessing the car was bought for a teenager to go to school or college or something. Just weird about the speakers and there is also a non-factory shift handle. Looks like carbon fiber. Probably plastic. I did put some better brake rotors on and upgraded the headlights that were originally sealed beams. I replaced them with Hella items that use H4 and H1 bulbs. The wheels that were on the car when I got it were awful. Not factory and didn't suit the car at all. I had a spare set of Ronal wheels from another BMW that I had, and put them on there. They are 16X71/2. They have fully polished faces, but look bad. Maybe some serious, serious cleaning will help. But they also have curb rash on most of them if not all. I will only come back to tell more about the car if asked at this point. I have tried to mention that which I can think of. The rest is up to you. On Jun-09-11 at 09:15:14 PDT, seller added the following information: There is only 1 day left on this auction. I'm surprised at overall how few questions I have been asked about this car. And the most frequent question seems to be about the convertible top. For those who don't know, BMW offered the convertible with both options, manual or motorized operation. This car has the manual version. The top is fully intact, you can raise or lower it, the back window is in pretty good shape. I cannot emphasize enough, that this is not a car that is being listed as a great daily driver. Yes you can drive it, and if you have the energy and resources, you can start enjoying it quickly. Like I said, it is drive-able now, but I think without at least a good weekend's worth of work, I don't advise it. Now, in all my years of being an ebay'er, and through 2 different ebay lives, I have never seen such an interest on any of 'my' items. There are currently in excess of 960 views and exactly 70 persons currently watching this one auction. Don't go insane over this auction, please. Yes I want to sell it, and yes I want the money that the sell brings, but please set yourself a reasonable limit on your bid. An immaculate example of this car, would usually go from between 5-7 thousand dollars. This car is far, far from one of those perfect, low mileage examples. If this auction goes way higher than it already is, you begin to lose the value that it currently is. And note, that as mentioned on the first day, I expect you to pay what you bid. So please keep your bids in perspective of the car being represented. Thanks everyone for your interest. On Jun-17-11 at 10:02:33 PDT, seller added the following information: ATTENTION BIDDERS With only 2 days left on this auction, I will emphasize again to read very carefully all the current text and the leftover from last weeks auction, where this car is currently re-listed. Those of you who may be inclined to enter a bid to fish the current price, be warned, your bid is your bid. You will be expected to pay at the end of this auction or turned over to ebay, just as last weeks high bidder was. And I will be happy with what ever this auction brings as a final price as I wasn't after a specific price to begin with. HOWEVER if you read the rules, then you know that the winner will pay at the end of auction through PayPal. I won't give my address or release car, until the payment clears paypal. This way, we know that bidding is fair to everyone, and we know you are serious about your bid. And you won't bid just to win, then show up and try and haggle. It is an auction and that is why we bid. So please, by all means, I'm already happy with where the price is. So please restrain yourself to currently be the high bidder. It only matters who is the high bidder at the end of the auction. I have tried to answer questions to all whom have asked. However I won't take notice of anyone else who attempts to get me to end the auction early. If I had intended to do that, I would have said so in the auction description when I started it. And I don't need to tell you that ebay don't like it, either. So I'm still taking questions as they come, and hope the auction goes to someone's liking. Good luck to all.
