Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 Overall this bike is in close to Excellent condition. Mechanically speaking it Is in Excellent condition. Bike runs, responds, drives, and sounds like new. The motor and 6 speed transmission are very, very quiet and smooth as well. All is as it should be everything in perfect working order right down to the OD light and original manual in storage compartment. As you can see by the picture the last time the bike was on the road was 1998 and has been stored since then. The title is clear and clean and there are absolutely no leaks whatsoever of any fluids, and never has been anything on my garage floor from it which is to be expected with such low mileage of 7,972.Barely broken in. That is the correct original mileage at 7,972 (sorry my picture was a little blurry so repeating the mileage just in case you can’t read it.)and these bikes are known to easily go 100,000 miles+ as it is a very bullet proof motor. As many people know, the biggest secret is keeping the oil changed and clean, and using high quality motorcycle oil which this bike has always been treated too. Even the old oil was clean but it was changed anyway as I am very persistant on oil changes and in my opinion it can never be too clean. I planned on keeping this bike for myself to commute with, with the high gas prices. This bike sips gas and gets up to an incredible 60-70 Miles Per Gallon. At the same time it is a very high performance bike that will most definitely surprise you if your not familiar. With the liquid cooled motor it can easily travel across country. Interesting tidbit: Although the bike has never been hot rodded and has only been driven as a cruiser, someone once told me they read in cycle magazine that the VT-500 will take the VT 700 off the line in a faceoff.. It will definitely keep up with the bigger bikes with no problem and you can ride by while they’re refilling their tanks due to the gas MPG. Add saddlebags, windshield,or any accessory you like to personalize it for yourself if desired. Café possibilities? Cosmetically this bike is a head turner, lots of chrome and bright and shiney paint that catches the sun. The sun was behind the clouds when I took these pictures, but when the sun is out you almost can’t look directly at it from the blinding reflection. Even though it didn’t really need it,Being very fussy Any Patina was professionally removed and restored as you can see. The rear brake shoes are brand new as well and again didn’t really need it because the original shoes still look new and not worn and can go with the bike as an extra set too. Even the footpegs show no wear. The original seat had a rip and was also replaced and restored with a brand new seat cover. Again all was done to satisfy my own fussiness when I was planning to keep and ride this bike for myself. The only thing that didn’t bother me enough to change was a very thin 3 inch scratch (in picture)on the right muffler that really isn’t noticeable and you would have to get on your hands and knees up close to see it clearly. Even though its close to excellent,if it is a concearn and you want to get to perfect, anything cosmetically on this bike can be changed in miniutes, very easy to work on for anyone and for myself I seem to enjoy that and detailing as much or maybe even more than riding it. The front tire I believe is original and can still see some original wear marker dye in treads. Rear tire has some small stress cracks but still has good tread left that I planned on riding for a while then getting a new high quality tire.(I’d guess 700-1500 miles left on it) I’m going to sadly miss having this bike in my garage, but I’m not using it and I really need the room. Also,I already have one older bike on the road that I ride now. I think it’s only fair to let it go to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have,or more instead of just sitting in a corner of my garage doing nothing. Here are the most recent items performed on the bike…… FULL TUNEUP INCLUDING,NEW AIR FILTER,HIGH QUALITY MOTORCYCLE OIL & FILTER CHANGED AND MILEAGE DOCUMENTED (now in storage compartment on bike).FINAL DRIVE SHAFT GEAR OIL CHANGED TO NEW HIGH QUALITY GEAR OIL. 4 NEW SPARK PLUGS,TANK AND CARBS FLUSHED AND TUNED,NEW GAS FILTER,CLEAR FOR VISUAL INSPECTION. NEW BATTERY,NEW HIGH QUALITY ANTIFREEZE,ALL GREASABLE POINTS FILLED WITH GREASE.ALL POINTS ELECTRICAL AND MECHNICAL ON BIKE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED AND WORKING AS THEY SHOULD. Although there is no warrenty and selling it final as is I think the proven History of these bikes speaks loudly enough to give you peace of mind of a wise investment. If you would like to see any more pictures all you have to do is ask and I will send them or anything else I can do just ask. Bike can either be shipped, taken care of by the new owner,or even throw on your new plate and drive it home. With that, Good luck Ebayers,Have fun, happy bidding and I’ll see the winner on the other side….On Jun-18-11 at 10:05:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Adding note 6/18/11: Think it is important to mention that the reserve was set low and a lot Less than Half of what this bike is worth and my reasons are simple. Mainly it is To be fair to the bidders. After all this is an auction and I think it's important to be as fair as possible, and even though the $975 reserve (and the current bid of $1075.)is a loss for me at this point,(especially with the offers I turned down outside of EBAY)that was the best I could do wanting to be fair. The reserve amount has nothing to do with what the bike is worth and as said the reserve amount and even the current bid of $1075 is still less than half of what this bike is worth especially having Less than 8,000 Original miles on it. Maybe you have seen other Shadow 500's with more miles but with starting prices of $2000.00 or more by the owners. I think it's because once you own and ride This particular Shadow it grows on you and pretty much fall in love with it,and it's very hard to let it go is how I feel about it. I can almost promise you,you will fall in love with this bike too as I did when you see and ride it. I have been riding for over 37 years and have owned several of these bikes and can tell you I would not be a repeat buyer if I wasn't extremely impressed by these bikes which have never let me down. The same is true for other people that have seen it in person and all my friends either want to buy it from me or tell me I should keep it and put it on the road. I tell them I need to sell it for 3 reasons,1)I need the room in my garage. 2) I already have a bike registered and insured on the road. 3) I didn't mention before because I felt it was maybe a little to personal to put in here is I am currently still out of work and could really use the money. As always if you have any further questions,or would like to see any more pictures please feel free to ask. P.S. Have to mention my batteries quit on my camera while taking pictures of the bike last weekend and is the reason the dates were mixed up. All pictures Were taken last weekend and why I say for any reasons you would like to see more pictures just ask and I will take the bike out of the garage and snap brand new ones for you with todays date. Good luck to you and may the best bidder win!
