Vehicle Detail
I bought this bike in 2000 with 7500 miles and rode it for 22,500 miles – mostly on the back roads of New England. It’s a sport touring bike: it’s agile on winding two lane blacktop - http://hondasabrev45.shutterfly.com and the Hondaline fairing makes it easy to cruise the interstate within a protected bubble of calm air. I have two windshields – a high one for winter cold and a lower one for summer heat. This was a high performance bike in its day and it's fast. The DOHC V-4 engine routes lots of smooth power through the six speed transmission and shaft drive. The bike has anti-dive front disc brakes with shoes in the rear. The tires are good, the battery is new, everything works and nothing leaks.I took excellent care of the bike and did a lot of work on it including: Installing braided metal control cables.Replacing the clutch.Replacing the voltage regulator.Replacing one of the solid state ignition units.Replacing the wire set and spark plugs.Replacing the fork seals.Replacing the front brake pads and rear brake shoes.Replacing the grips and throttle lock.Oil changes every 3K miles.Draining and replacing coolant. The carburetors were disassembled and completely cleaned and tuned by a Honda mechanic. The timing chain was adjusted. The Corbin seat has a removable passenger back-rest. Also included are a tank bag and two nylon pannier bags. The bike comes with the shop manual. Spare parts include a new pair of brake shoes and two solid state ignition units. In addition the bike comes with a plug in tickler charging unit to keep the battery charged in the winter. My last ride was a 1000 mile round trip from Hartford, via the George Washington bridge and Jersey Turnpike to Virginia Beach. The bike did this without a hiccup. The fairing makes it comfortable to ride year round. In sum – a classic, elegant looking, mechanically sound, reliable, comfortable, high performance sport touring bike.
