Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner. I would drive this car anywhere and back again 10 times. Very reliable car. No codes. No issues. Everything is operational. Garage stored. Non smoker as was prior owner. Nothing is broken. Does not have any fluid / oil leaks. Nothing needs to be fixed. This has been a great dependable car for us. Great on gas mileage if you drive conservatively. Car is stock except for new brakes and tires installed last year slotted and drilled front and back rotors with ceramic pads (no black brake dust). Items we have had serviced or preformed at dealer. New serpentine belts installed at dealer. All rear axle/transmission seals were replaced at dealer. Two were leaking slowly, so I decided to just replace them all while they were at it (I think there are 8 total). New sumitomo HTR Z II Tires last summer...AWESOME TIRES much better handling than the goodyears that were on it. New leather on driver seat 2 years ago. These corvette seats are prone to crack, and drivers side was replaced. Leather is better than OEM. Canvas roof does not leak, but you may want to replace, as it is not in perfect visual condition. They was a problem with the factory roof screws on all the convertibles (one screw on each side) poking into canvas when roof was folded into trunk. I ground off the tips which was the proper remedy, but never got new roof installed. It does not leak and holds out weather properly. It is 13 years old and as convertible tops go, it is in fairly good shape for its age.The proffesional upholsterer that installed leather on drivers seat ($695.00), quoted about 800 for a new top installed with the rear defrost glass. This has been a very reliable car, with a few minor things that needed repair since I have owned it. Installed new front left hub as speed sensor (sealed bearing and speedsensor all one unit) for ABS and traction control was bad. New battery last summer. Installed new power antenna mast, fine working order now. Headlight gears (corvettes are prone to strip out these cheap plastic gears that lower and raise headlights) replaced with brass gears instead of cheap OEM plastic ones. Had O2 sensor on catalytic converter replaced. Oil changes with Mobil 1 only. Brake fluid was flushed and synthetic amsoil brake fluid was installed. NO CODES passed recent Illinois emisions test. Stock original exhaust. Rims are off of a 2002 vette and are not the original wheels. Chrome on wheels has air bubbles between chrome plating and wheel metal in spots. This is what it came with when I bought it. I have two brand new key FOB's from GM (not aftermarket knockoffs or used GM's) included with sale ($250.00) Has the dual climate control, electric defrost in rear window (glass), power lumbar supports both seats air bolsters. Body in great shape. Seat and mirror memory KEY 1 and KEY 2. Glass is in excellent shape. Did notice about a 2" long light scratch inside of passenger door glass maybe from a ring diamond glancing glass. Fiberglass is in great shape. No cracks or damage from parking or sidewalk curbs. Some elective improvements I was considering, were new wheels, and a new convertible top, but not necessary to be functioning properly. I have front license plate cover "CORVETTE" if you live in a state that does not require a front license plate. This cover is included with car. The 1998 C5 Corvette was the first with the new Active Handling system as an option. The Active Handling system activates when there is a significant difference between how the driver intends for the car to corner and how the car is actually cornering. It works with the ABS and traction control systems needed to apply any of the four brakes to help correct the situation. Active Handling can help to avoid many accidents. Also during 1998, the LS1 5.7L V-8 engine was distinguished as one of the best in 1998. The Corvette, Camaro, and Firebird are all powered by the engine. The 1998 5.7L V-8 was the most technologically advanced push rod small block of its time. The engine continued with its heritage of 4.40 inch center-to-center bore dimensions and high output. 1998 Corvette Retail Price and OPTIONS THAT THIS CAR HAS msrp $$ 49,000.00++ INCLUDING DESTINATION AND DELIVERY CHARGES 1YY67 Covertible $44,425.00 AAB Memory Package $150.00 AG2 Power passenger Seat $305.00 AQ9 Luxury Sport Seats $625.00 B34 Floor Mats $25.00 B84 Body Side Moldings $75.00 C05 Convertible Roof INCL DL8 L & R Elec Mirrors INCL AK5 Inflatable drv n pass AG2 6 way power seat driver n pass CJ2 Air conditioning auto temp FE9 federal emmisions G92 Performance axle ratio $100.00 IL3 Interior design JAG ABS location JL4 Active Suspension Brake $500.00 JL9 ANTILOCK BRAKES K63 110 AMP ALTERNATOR LS1 345 HP 5.7 LITRE MX0 4 SPEED AUTO TRANS M30 4L60 AUTO TRANS NF2 FEDERAL EMISSIONS NK4 SPORTS LEATHER QD4 17X8.5 FRONT 18 X 9.5 REAR T96 FOG LIGHTS $69.00 UL0 RADIO UZ6 PREMIUM BOSE $800.00 U1S 12 CD PLAYER TRUNK $600.00 U52 ELECTRIC INSTR CLUSTER FE3 LOAD LEVELING TOURING SPORT U75 POWER ANTENNA VM3 CONSUMER BUMPER IMPACT STANDARD V49 FRONT LICENSE PLATE $15.00 V73 USA CANADA XGG P245/45R17 BW YGH P275/40R18 BW 1AY STOCK 1SB PREFERRED EQUIPMENT GROUP 10U ARTIC WHITE 67I MED OAK INT 67T SADDLE 673 LIGHT OAK LEATHER Z51 SUSPENSION $350.00 rear electric defrost warranty;; This vehicle is warranteed to be fully operational and properly functioning as manufacturer intended, on day of delivery to buyer. I have copy of original florida title stating water damage. Previous original owner left the top down and got rained on / wet inside of car interior. He had his insurance company fix the damage and kept the car. Dash was fine and did not get wet as the window is swept so far back. Seat motors and, seats, foam, and air filled lumbar supports and seat compressor were replaced. Damage was contained to the seats and electric components in the seats. Door switches and window motors were not effected. Previous owner sold this because he needed money to buy a truck for his business. I bought this car on ebay in 2004 after inspecting car and before auction ended. Everything checked out as owner stated with regard to mechanical and electrical systems on car working properly. I bought this car at a slightly lower price than retail value, and now this savings will be passed onto the new buyer, as you will see carfax or whatever report you obtain. Am selling because I drove this car a total of 4 times in 2010 and 3 this past spring. I just don't have the time to enjoy it because of work load, and with the kids all having licenses and driving their own cars now, I have way to many cars to pay insurance on, properly mainten each one, pay registration on, etc. Good luck bidding!! It is a great car and someone will get a good deal on it. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD TO A BUYER THAT WILL OFFER ME FIRST RIGHT OF REFUSAL IF BUYER SHOULD EVER DECIDE TO SELL THIS CAR IN THE FUTURE. Not to much to ask, Thanks. Was at a swap meet / car auction a few years back. A vendor was selling everything he had at giveaway prices, because one of his two trucks broke down, and he had not enough room to load his things he was selling when meet was over. Picked up a drivers side door panel, although I did not need one.. It is in the black and tan interior. In great shape and good to have for a spare if you ever need one. Purchased it for 25.00, and this is included with car, has window swithes, door locks, speaker grid, and reflector and little plastic piece that covers mounting screws behind door pull. On Jun-11-11 at 20:26:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Addressed previously In question and answer section and pictures in album. THIS CORVETTE DOES NOT OR EVER DID HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE. It had an insurance claim for water damage (not flood damage) in the state of Florida (see description above and copy of title in photos).
