Vehicle Detail
One of a kind Cadillac being sold as garage furniture, a collectors item and conversation piece. Apparently, when I started the auction for my Cadillac just a few days ago I did not check the correct box regarding the title. Discrepancy has been rectified and auction re-started. Please read entire description prior to bidding. A close friend of mine purchased this car at the Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson Auction that took place in April of 2009. Sold on the block for $30,000 plus a 10% buyers fee. Final price was $33,000. I have documentation for that Palm Beach event and the purchase paperwork. I also have brochures and several original and factory documents pertaining to the car in my file. Many of us collectors heard about that Auction and the fall-out that occured both during and after the event. Here's the bottom line: SCRAP titles and the confusion regarding registration and reselling of those vehicles made the news during the auction. Internet blogs and forum chats we also buzzing. There was even talk of the NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) putting a stop to the selling of the approximately 100 General Motors Heritage cars at the sale. The sale continued and the cars were sold. From the very beginning, Barrett-Jackson and GM clearly disclosed how these vehicles were to be sold and the paperwork that would be provided. Some buyers had peanut butter in their ears and were disgruntled when it became clear what the announcements meant. The General Motors Heritage Collection consists of prototypes, one of a kinds, design studies, engineering experiments, SEMA show cars and even mile-stone cars like the last car off of a production line, etc. Some cars simply test new advances in luxury equipment and options. Some of these vehicles have special or partial VIN numbers or even no VIN numbers at all. Most are missing the Federal standards stickers that go inside the drivers door opening. In order to cover all scenarios, these cars were titled in the State of Michigan as SCRAP, showing General Motors Corp as the owner. As unfair as it seems in many cases, vehicles titled in this way CANNOT be registered for road use! DMV rules and regulations differ from State to State but I'm selling my Cadillac as a collectors item, a decoration, a conversation piece. I haven't done much research since 2009 so I'm unaware of any new information regarding the drivability or registration of these vehicles from the Heritage collection. Car dealers with assigned license plates, Vetrans with permanent vehicle plates, etc, may be able to drive the car without consequence but please do your own research. There may be a technicality or loophole regarding registration I'm not aware of but again, do your homework. I am simply providing the paperwork that came with the car in April of 2009. I'm treating the title to my Cadillac as a certificate of authenticity, NOT as an actual title or transfer of ownership document due to the complex nature of the cars that were sold from the Heritage collection. The original Michigan title comes with the car in it's current and unaltered form. I will also provide all paperwork from time of purchase at Barrett-Jackson showing the amount paid, payment received and tons of literature for the car. Detailed information for my Cadillac is below. My Cadillac is a 2006 DTS Platinum Performance Sedan and should be deemed road-worthy but as I stated previously, all vehicles were labelled as SCRAP. My car has a complete and accurate 17 digit VIN number. It pulls up immediately in the GM data base and on CARFAX showing 1 owner. In preporation for the Barrett-Jackson auction, GM applied for the BRANDED Michigan title in the end of February, 2009. Based on the rare and plentiful options on my Cadillac, I believe the car was a guinea pig and test platform for upgrades and luxury items. Also, the interior and exterior color combination is unique to this car and no one has ever seen it before. The Cognac frost paint and interior are the only such in existence. I have the factory manifest (assembly line sheet) showing the broadcast codes and options. I also have the factory window sticker but the equipment and options sections are blank. Both of those original documents have the full and matching VIN number on them. I printed a build sheet from the General Motors Inquiry System. This printout shows all of the option codes for the car including Federal emissions. This car is loaded. Heated/cooled/massaging front seats and heated steering wheel. Even the rear seats are heated. In-dash CD changer, Navigation with DVD, XM Radio and BOSE system. Front seat headrests both have TV monitors for rear passenger viewing. There is also an MSN receiver in the trunk. I assume this unit is for the television and internet functions. The trunk is full of neatly boxed extras like 4 sets of headphones and remote controls for the electronic goodies. Power rear window shade, etc. Of course Cadillac's are known for creature comforts so all of the usual power options and toys are present but there is so much more. The condition of the car represents the 4000 actual miles. She still smells new inside. Kept indoors since day-one. All exterior trim, moldings, glass, etc, look like new. The body and paint are gorgeous. There is one small scuff down low on the rear bumper (photo shown) but the paint shines like it was on the showroom floor. Other than the very minor blemishes I have pictured below, the car appears in almost brand new condition. While I've owned the car I have obtained a handful of temporary trip permits from our local DMV and put just over 1000 miles on the odometer. I have enjoyed each and every mile. She performs and feels just like new. Truly, it is like driving a new Cadillac. The check engine light comes and goes but performance never changes. The dashboard computer says that fuel mileage is averaging 16. Again, I am not selling this car as a means of transportation. I'm simply sharing my driving experiences from behind the steering wheel. My eBay transactions have all been enjoyable as I've sold members from my collection over the years. I'm grateful for the kind comments I've received. There is much more I can share about this car and I fully expect to be contacted with questions. DON'T hesitate to contact me. This is an unusual car with an interesting history and story attached to it. The upcoming photos depict the car accurately and I will make brief remarks under some of them. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My phone number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Thursday afternoon, the 9th of June at 1PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm an easy going person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price for my Cadillac. All that I ask in return is that you read the details and information I provided and be sure that your bids are real and your intent to purchase is sincere. Every photo you're about to see was taken by me and shows the car clearly and honestly. I encourage and welcome contact from anyone with genuine interest. Thanks for your time, DAVE Crossing the Fremont Bridge in Downtown Portland the day I took these photos. I only looked through the camera for a second. That is just a pine needle sticking up on the edge of the fender. One of very few flaws. Please notice the small paint blemish at the lower corner of the headlight. 18 inch chrome factory wheels with Bridgestone tires. They still appear like new. This is the scuff I mentioned earlier. It is down very low on the rear bumper and only visible when pointed out. The interior is beautiful. Entertainment screens for rear passengers located in the headrests. NO Federal standards stickers inside the drivers door. Taken while driving. Again, I only looked away for a split second. Total miles since new. 4096 correct and actual miles. The Navigation and sound system are user-friendly. Heated/cooled and memory seats. The undersides still appear near new. Complete and authentic 17 digit VIN number. This is the title that arrived in the mail shortly after purchase in 2009. Michigan SCRAP title showing General Motors as owner. Please note: As far as the State of Michigan is concerned (and probably most other States as well), this car is for parts and only specific parts at that. This car cannot be registered for road-use. Backside of title. This sale is NOT for the purpose of rebuilding. It is a collectors item, a conversation piece and garage furniture. This car is considered usable for PARTS ONLY and not fit to be driven on the road. Other uses are up to the next person that has possession. I saved some of the hoopla articles that surfaced during April of 2009. These blogs and write-up's can still be found active on the internet. The blanket policy they came up with for these cars was put in place to cover all bases. More discussion and opinions I continued finding. Hopefully, a solution to the stigma attached to these cars will occur but for now, don't hold your breath. She can still be seen on the Barrett-Jackson website in their archives or just Google search the Palm Beach 2009 event. Her number at the auction was 704.4 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terms of Sale: 6yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning collector and classic cars. I have 100% faith in the mechanical and electrical components of this car and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have a Michigan SCRAP certificate of title in my possession. A receipt for payment received will be included with the title. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 9 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Most banks and credit unions will not finance vehicles with damaged, rebuilt, salvage or SCRAP titles. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Carla is great at her job and can be reached at 530-529-6986. She is based in Northern California and has handled my transport needs perfectly with careful handling, reasonable rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. Again, I'm happy to help from beginning to end. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
