This is a driver ready Ford Galaxie XL Convertible (with original top boot). Purchased from Vancouver Island Canada and shipped to New York 7 years ago. It was garaged for 18 years up to that point. Odometer shows 36310 miles (36010 when purchased). Odometer may have gone around once already. The 352 8-cylinder was completely rebuilt including new heads in 2004. New mufflers and tailpipe. Convertible top and motor is NEW but it is a tight fit when locking down the convertible roof. Car had been re-painted at one time. Interior is original. Car drives like a dream. It is kept in a garage and is on the road often. All guages work. Clock is not working. I am not a dealer. I tried decoding the VIN #'s with some online help and some Ford people when I received the car and this is what I came up with. I can verify that this is the VIN for thie Vehicle. You're description of the specific fields is funny, such as "4" being 1964, then 64 again as 1964, 76B as a convert 500xl (list reveals that 76 is a country squire), and you lis "L" as left hand drive,.... which is not typical of a VIN# I'm trying to figure out what engine the car was born with, which is always the 5th digit of the VIN#, and is a letter, not a number. - 734billg Dear 734billg, Hi. Country Squire Here is something from the Galaxie.com.au website: 1963 saw an increase in the number of Galaxie's available to the Australian buying public, and in the 1964 model year, larger numbers of Galaxies were available through selected Ford dealers.
