Vehicle Detail
This is an amazingly original 1966 Mustang GT coupe. It has remained remarkably in tact over the last 45 years. While most Mustangs were rodded or altered this car has endured with most of its original parts still present. The previous owner stated it still has the original A code engine (standard bore) and trans in it. The intake and one head were removed by a prior owner to verify the engine had never been bored out. The date tag is still on the intake. The car was last registered in 1979. The color is antique bronze with a Parchment and palomino trim Pony interior. It has the wood grain on the dash and door handles. It came equipped with factory dealer installed under the dash air conditioning, remote control mirror, tinted glass (all still there but there is a wiper mark on the windshield), a black vinyl top, automatic transmission, equa lock differential, and the very desireable GT Package. It still has the disc brakes, fog light switch and wiring, grille, 2 sets of GT trumpets and a new pair of GT exhaust pipes with the resonators built in them. The GT bar and lights are missing as is the a/c condenser, hood, lower front valence and the horns. The A/C unit is still present with all the firewall fittings and the compressor and brackets. There had been an aftermarket radio installed at one time. The repair panel to correct the opening is included. Also new door window felt and rubber. The rear seat has all the original upholstery and is usable but I would recover it to match the front buckets when you recover them. This car was originally built in San Jose Ca and shipped to Dallas, Tx. It was within 10 miles of Dallas when found. There is no rust in the exterior. The Battery area, shock towers, frame rails, trunk floor, quarters are all excellent. The data plate has never been tampered with and the paint looks just like new, sharp, clean, unscratched and clear. I would skin the 2 doors due to exterior dents but they could possibly be worked out. Both front fenders received small damage areas ahead of the tires on the sides. Since the fenders arent rusty and are date coded to the car I would have them repaired. There is a lightly repaired area ahead of the lr tire. This was not due to rust. I have not been under the car to do a full inspection but the floors look solid with only surface rust on them except the LR foot pan. See the picture. There are NO aftermarket or even substitution American sheet metal parts on this car. The trunk closes like new. The trunk and tail light gaps are amazing. 1/8 ", it fits like a Mercedes, not a hot American car they were throwing together fast to keep up with the demand. This is a rare car that is unusually loaded with desirable performance AND luxury options. I have not seen a true, unmolested GT this complete and rust free for 10-15 years. This is a true Texas car. Bid now.
