It has been in climate controlled storage, covered, and rarely out of our warehouse. I bought this car on a trip to California in May of 2008, it was very clean and nice, so I thought I would buy it to keep. Very nice indeed, not quite collector grade but high driver grade vehicle. Brand new Michelin tires put on two weeks ago. It has always started right up and driven well, drives excellent and sounds perfect. We are out of room now and this is the one to leave. I believe the mileage to be correct at 54,OOO because the Cali title said actual. When I acquired an OKLA title it came back exempt as do all vehicles 10 years or older, thats how we will sell it. The exterior is finished in China Blue, the original color to the SL with matching hardtop and factory stand/cover, and a newer dark blue soft top. The interior appears largely original including the mb tex seats except the carpets and dash topper. The zebrano wood trim at the shifter has some slight cracking in the bottom piece, it retains its original working Becker Mexico radio that works well. The air conditioning works and this car could be driven every day. It has always started and driven very well. The 1980 was the last year of the cast iron block and considered the best and most valuable of all the 450 SLs.
