Vehicle Detail
1979 Cadillac Sedan De Ville VIN: 6D69S9C392172 So, where else are you buying your minty, one-owner, original top-of-the-line Caddys anyway? Reluctantly, this one was traded-in by its original (senior citizen) owner at a Lexus dealership here in the Puget Sound area just a few weeks ago and then turned over to us for resale to a lucky new buyer. Way back on September 17, 1979 Mr. Edward P. of Irvine, CA stopped by Thomas Cadillac in Los Angeles and drove home in this car. The odometer showed just 11 miles on that day. As the years passed, he fussed over the DeVille, always giving it regular attention and service. Today that same mileage counter shows 23,696 and I wouldn’t be too shocked to discover they’re actual miles based on the observed condition of this rig (Truthfully, we have no way to really know). While it isn’t impossible to find another thirty-two year old sedan in this nice overall shape most were just turned over to a teenage driver after Grandad bought a new car and were then beaten to within an inch of their lives as a Saturday night cruiser. As our photos clearly show, that has definitely NOT been the case here! If you have questions or would like to discuss a sale before the auction ends, please call me here at BEST AUTO anytime. My name is Mark Thompson and my direct number is (206)914-1173. CONDITION: It’s very obvious by the way this car was pampered that the owner hadn’t let anyone under sixty drive it, hence the very, very decent overall condition. The interior is almost faultless – I mean like a car that’s a third the age of this one! Even the original rubber Cadillac trunk mats still in place. The ashtray’s NEVER been used for anything more than storing coins! All the power extras are here too, including the windows, door locks, antennae, seats, steering and brakes. The exterior of our DeVille is in remarkably nice, original condition. A quick glance over my photos and you’ll see all the glass is good with no cracks or chips. There’s no rust or pitting to any of the chrome. No UV-induced “tiger claw” splits or other faults on the color-matched vinyl roof either. I’m no body or paint expert, but I find no evidence of a re-spray to the creamy yellow factory enamel, only some discoloration of the plastic fill panels on the rear fins. One touch of the key and the bullet-proof 7.0 liter V8 starts instantly, even when cold. The automatic four-speed transmission shifts great! I’ll make sure full-size spare tire, as well as the original, unused mini spare and inflation tank pictured are in the car. How many other thirty-year-old Caddies do you think are still driving around with their original, never used spare tire? The un-retouched photos really do tell this Caddy’s story. I’ve made no attempt to update the remarkably decent stock engine compartment and trunk. About the only thing needed for either is a new under hood liner. Rust? Please, this boulevard cruiser hates body rust and you’ll be hard pressed to find ANYTHING here to worry about (look at my shots of the underside and bottom of the door). Yes, the Puget Sound area is famous for rain, but our winter roads are never salted. At most we’ll only have one or two days of light snow each year and then everyone panics and just stays home. Climb over, under and throughout this car - I know you’ll come up smiling! Please look again at the interior pictures. You’ll find nearly untouched, original leather upholstery. I’m quite impressed with the condition of the dash gauges, too. They’re as clear and bright as the day this rig left the Michigan plant three decades ago! The factory radio and the temperature control system function as they should including the air conditioning. Mechanically the car is good and strong. Even after sitting in our warehouse for a few days at a time it’s failed to start right up at the first crank. As you would expect the automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears and has no slippage. The brakes feel just fine to me. I’ve spent several days cruising both freeways and city streets and can find no fault with the way this car runs or drives out. The only negatives I can think to point out are a missing drivers front floor mat and one penny-sized paint chip area needing to be retouched. I have no problem encouraging bidders to do what many of our previous buyers from as far away as Alaska, California, the east coast, Canada and even the Mexican Baja have done – fly in here to Seattle (We’ll pick you up at Sea-Tac International just a few miles from us) and then drive home the same day! Come on, the weather’s great and you know you’re itching for a fun spring roadtrip! PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a very nice car from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or you’re required to spend a small amount on some unforeseen problem! No used car is perfect. Having said that, I have every confidence this vehicle can be driven home cross-country today. Note: We will NEVER, EVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law). Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions or ANY negative feedback call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK THOMPSON. TERMS OF SALE: You’re encouraged to check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! Come by and drive the car at our Kenmore, WA location during business hours if you’re in the area. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally, we reserve the right to end the auction early if the DeVille is no longer for sale or an acceptable offer has been agreed upon. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction’s end if you’re the winning bidder. The remaining balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with us. Remember, you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You are not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later! You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. If you do decide to have the Cadillac shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from www.U-ship.com link below. The zip code for pick-up would be 98028 (Kent, WA) to get an instant on-line quote from either source. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. Please be sure you inquire with your shipper for information regarding insurance coverage on the vehicles they transport. The car can be stored free of charge at our location for up to two weeks after full payment has been made. We are open for vehicle pickup everyday from 10 to 6. A Few Additional Terms and Requirements: The Buyer will be responsible for the licensing requirements in their state of residence. If you live here in Washington we’ll need to collect the 9.8% sales tax, title preparation, transfer and registration fees. Because the Cadillac is advertised and for sale locally, we reserve the right to notify bidders and cancel this auction early if the car is no longer available for sale online. The car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. All information described above is based on the observed condition when the listing was placed. I've done my very best to describe the car as honestly as possible. The State of Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Venue shall be exclusively in King County. The final contract signed between both buyer and seller shall be binding. The final signed contract and terms thereof shall govern the sale. All disputes arising out of or relating to this auction, any negotiations, the signed agreement, or to the breach, enforcement or interpretation thereof, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Washington, in accordance with the terms contained in the final sale agreement and under the laws of the State of Washington. Whew! Don’t you just love legalese?
