Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very nice vintage1972 HONDA CB500 Four. this bike was purchased by the original owners in 1972 from a local motorcycle dealer and they rode it for 3 years.they then put it in thier shed where it sat for 31 years. The second owner bought the bike and put a new battery in it along with fresh gas and it fired right up after hitting the start button the second time.he then rode it for two summers and parked it outside under a tarp for 2 years. while he road it, he put the new exhaust, spark plugs, battery, rear tire, and new brake pads/shoes on it. i recently purchased the bike and put fresh gas in it and a new battery, along with new spark plugs just to freshen it up a little.i tried the kick start on it and it fired right up after about 4 or 5 kicks!! once i rode it down the street and back, all it takes to start the bike is a short push of the starter button or 1(sometimes on a cold day 2 kicks)to start the bike. it starts right up and goes down the road nice and smoothly.all gears work fine and i have not had any problems with the bike. i changed the oil and drove it all around town on a warm day last week.not one problem with the bike. all lights work as they should and have nice lenses on them. the bike appears to be 90% original yet with only the above mentioned parts being replaced. i also have the original highway bars(crash bars) that came on the bike when it was new.they were removed by the second owner and left on the ground holding the tarp down over the bike. the highway bars have seen better days as they are now rusted here and there but i will include them in this auction.the bike has only been washed so i could ride around town last week, i have not tried to polish the chrome to see if the little minor areas of rust pitting would come out. most of the rust disoloration came off as i washed the bike. i imagine it would only take some elbow grease and chrome polish to make this beauty really shine like in it's former glory days! also , you can turn the key on and grab the kick start with your hand and give it a good push down and the bike fires right up about half way through the stroke!! can't do that with my old shovelhead! i only want to sell this gem because i'm out of room as i have 2 harleys and an old pontiac lemans stored at my parents house. things gotta find a new home. if you have any questions or are a serious buyer, please contact me through EBAY message as i can email you more pics or close ups of any area you need to see. original seat with no rips or tears.original foot pegs that still look great and original handle bar grips that look great. an all around good looking and good running vintage honda motorcycle to add to your collection or ride every day! bike is not concours show quality as it is 39 years old, but over all should clean up real nice and be a sweet driver. paint is real nice and most chrome is still shiny and good looking. On May-23-11 at 13:45:38 PDT, seller added the following information: reserve lowered ! i have lowered the reserve price to help the winning bidder out. this will allow for getting the bike home one way or another. the 'buy it now' price remains the same. good luck bidding. this will make some one a nice bike.On May-24-11 at 17:19:41 PDT, seller added the following information: i will also include a brand new carburetor gasket kit (all four of them) to winning bidder. i bought these thinking i would have to clean out the carbs, but after putting in the new battery and fresh gas, it started right up and i've been driving it periodically since. also you can try to watch a short video of me starting it by hand and with the starter button.you can see all lights are working also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrrRYIOqa7M if the above link does not work then try searching for honda cb500 four on youtube.look for the one from rottonjon bike will probably need a new front tire as this is the original one and at 55-60 mph it starts to shimmy a little and is a bit weather checked.
